How many posts have you made on every calculator forums combined?

So from September 9th 2003 to present day, I would have made between 75917 and 76618 posts on calculator forums. I started doing calc stuff on July 4th 2001 and visiting calculator websites in October of that year, but it took me 2 years before I finally participate for real on calculator forums. This total is taking into account the fact that some Omnimaga posts did not count towards total post count, though (such as the randomness/humor/intro sections). I made 63257 on Omni in total, if I coun...

When did you start programming? (poll)

So I thought it would be interesting to make a poll asking people when approximately they started programming for calculators, but you can answer even if you never touched a calculator too. I have set the poll by three years chunk so that each period spans a specific TI community era. For example, 1994-96 was when ZShell arrived and when ticalc.org was about to come to birth and back in the days, it seemed like the TI community was split into specific eras anyway (especially after 2008 where it'...

So the tie-breaker poll almost ended into another tie, which would have forced us to extend it in some sort of sudden-death fashion, but finally it ended with a single vote difference, with 17 votes distributed across the two entries.ICE Compiler has the extra vote and has thus won the Montly CW Project Award for June 2016. Congratulations PT_ and great job to everyone else for their contributions! Monthly CW Project ...

DMCA and C&D letters in the TI community: A look back

Despite the recent DMCA takedown notices that Nintendo of America sent about Pokémon Uranium and Another Metroid 2 Project (AM2R), the TI calculator community has been rather lucky about fan games and demakes. However, did you know that in the past, calculator developers were also hit by cease and desist letters, e-mails or DMCA takedown notices by big game companies for copyright infrigments? This retrospective article will look back in time at some games that ended up on the wrong end of a C&D...

Hayleia, about the TI-84

Hayleia I know you didn't like when people omitted the plus from the TI-84 Plus calculator names, but guess what? TI has now done it too: I got an e-mail inviting me to join the "Successfully Integrating TI-84 Technology into Your Middle Grades Mathematics Classroom" webinar. Or could this be a sign of things to come, such as TI releasing a lower-end TI-84 Plus? (eg renaming the TI-83 Plus or TI-73 as TI-84 without a plus)

The calculator of your dreams (or your fears)

I saw a topic on TI-Planet ;t=17473 and I thought it would be interesting to see what people here would like as a new graphing calculator, what they expect the next TI/Casio/HP calculator to be, in terms of technical specs (eg processor name, speed, RAM, flash, etc). Make sure to be somewhat realistic, though, perhaps basing yourself on past TI calculator releases or smartphone attempts at dabbling into calculators (eg Lexibook).

A new RPG for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition

For the last few years, 123outerme has developed various pure and hybrid TI-BASIC calculator games for the TI-83 Plus and later the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition. Among those, there were many games with various role-playing game elements. Source Seekers, Solius and Dragonsglid were some of his most prominent titles around that genre. While simple in general, they still managed to provide a lot of entertainment while they lasted. Today, the author has released another RPG, this ...

About Fifteen Years Ago, Part #1

It almost ended all in late April and at another point in the past, but I finally managed to have stuck around for 15 years. July 4th 2001 was the day I got my first graphing calculator: a TI-83 Plus. I always dreamed of making games at the time and that dream was finally about to come true. When I started programming that beast, I was just 4 days away from turning 15, which is around when most people start calculator programming, and it's hard to believe I spent half of my life in the TI commun...

You can go to jail for 3 years in France for using a TI-Nspire

Last year in France, some teachers decided to apply their own rules and restrictions about what calculators can be used during the BAC exam and what you can use on your calculator. Until 2018, although devices like smartphones or other things that has a touchscreen or storage memory are banned from exams, certain calculator models, which includes the TI-Nspire, are exempt if the exam allows the usage of said calculator, and under the current laws, viewing TI-Nspire documents is allowed. However, ...

Nspire OS 4.0 announced

Normally, as soon as a new version of Ndless comes out, a new TI-Nspire OS is announced shortly afterward. This is the case again after Ndless 3.9 release apparently comes out on March 26th 2015. WARNING: Do NOT upgrade your TI-84 Plus CE to OS 5.5 and higher. It blocks ASM!

I saw this coming years ago as critor would say, but it is now a reality: Texas Instruments has decided to block ASM on the TI-83 Premium CE and TI-84 Plus CE.Looks like from now on ASM will have to be added via hacking or whatever, like on the Nspire. Hopefully it's not as difficult as with Ndless and hopefully there is a way to get the old games to run on the new OS. But this is bad news for TI development, especially considering most games are coming out on the CE.Source: ...

C.Basic - A much faster Casio fx-9860gII BASIC interpreter

One of the many complains that Casio calculator programmers always had was that its BASIC language was slow. TI programmers had similar complains about TI-BASIC, but the slow speed of TI-BASIC is nothing compared to Casio calculators, especially the ClassPad series. Thankfully, the fx-9860G series has a BASIC language that runs at speeds roughly comparable with the TI-84 Plus, but only because of the much faster processor (between 29 and 58 MHz depending of the fx-9860G hardware revision, compar...
