Close, but that's not quite accurate either: The TRS-80 Model 1 is a different computer entirely from the TRS-80 Color Computer 1.

I wonder if those can run games similar to what we saw on the C64 or ZX Spectrum or if they are much more lower end like that computer on which gameblabla made a two-color Flappy Bird clone once?
u/Caleb Hansberry July 12, 2016, 04:34:58 PM
It's reasonably similar to a C64, though it is less powerful and has less software - that makes it nearly identical to the C Plus/4 or C16. While its more powerful than the 1977 Model 1, the Model 1 did indeed have a z80 CPU, which helped make more software available for it that the odd 6809.

TRS-80 nomenclature was so weird. They made a TRS-80 Model 1, Model 2, Model 3, and Model 4... but the model 2 wasn't related to the others in the list according to Wikipedia. With the CoCo they made three, and they were backwards compatible - the CoCo 3 is the most capable.

I cannot find time yet to pull these out and get them running, so here's a pic of where they're stored, you can see the Mac on the left and the PC-XT monitor on the right, the PCjr one is on the bottom.

Here's the PC-XT:

The TRS-80 Model 2 is in fact a SHARP PC-1500 with RadioShark's brand.

BTW, are the computers all gone?
u/Caleb Hansberry July 17, 2016, 05:27:33 AM
The TRS-80 I sold on ebay for $50+shipping. Still have the IBM PCjr though. I finally got around to setting it up and taking a couple pics! Again, if you're willing to pay the cost of shipping I'll sell it to you for $10.

Looks nice! I wonder if those computers could run the Oregon Trail and King Quest?

Nope, that'd be the TRS-80 Pocket Computer 2, yet another totally unrelated machine. Yes, Radioshack's naming schemes are indeed utterly confusing.

Aww, I'm a sucker for vintage stuff but the shipping isn't gonna make it very good of a deal... (I live in NL <_<)
u/Caleb Hansberry July 18, 2016, 03:30:49 PM
ur right about that aeTIos  <_< would be liek omg wtf so espensive I'm sure

If anyone wants to buy the PCjr that'd be awesome because I'm only allowed, quite reasonably, to store computers either in the computer area, or in my own personal space, we don't have any free storage. Since it's a 1400 sq. ft. house with two bedrooms and nine people, the four older kids all in one bedroom, and the computer area is filled with three modern computers and can only hold one vintage computer at a time max, the only place I can store them is on my bed. So I'll have to sleep with a few (rather large) computers til I get everything sorted out and sold!

I also have a IBM PC Convertible, but it'd cost somewhat more and while it works fine, the drives need cleaned, they generate a lot of errors. But if anyone here wants it I'd totally give a discount.

Four kids in one bedroom? O.O And I thought I didn't have enough space by being two in the same bedroom back then. Also 9 people is a lot lol. Hopefully you can sell those computers to someone nearby.
u/aetios July 18, 2016, 08:59:58 PM
I have no idea what 1400sq ft is in m² but apparently that's quite small?
u/Dream of Omnimaga July 18, 2016, 09:06:05 PM
3 inches is approximately 90 cm. Assuming it's a single floor home in square form, that definitively seems quite small and most recent buildings have fewer and fewer storage areas.
u/Caleb Hansberry July 28, 2016, 05:30:36 AM
I'd really like to find a home for this PCjr. I have all the computers in the only space I can keep them, in my bed, and it was most uncomfortable sleeping on the floor last night. If anyone happens to be in the area you could pick it up, I might even part with the XT since it's extremely heavy, although it's quite a versatile machine it's not practical with my sleeping arrangement... It's practical for us to meet to transfer the computer if anyone is anywhere from Denver to Pueblo to Limon. and @Scipi if you would like it shipped to florida just let me know, I'd like to get it outta here if you'd like it... :s

* DJ Omnimaga wonders if @netham45 likes vintage computers, since he lives in Colorado? I think Cooliojazz lives there too.
