It may not be broken if you let it dry very well before turning it on again. It's definitely not a recommended way to clean your laptop though.

Ahh, good old LTT. I remember that one. There was another one where he "accidentally" left a laptop Dell loaned him out in the rain.

My main worry was if the laptop still received power while turned off, such as to keep the clock memorized. Also corrosion could be an issue, right?

Corrosion wouldn't be an issue if you catch it within a day or two.

All you have to do is do what I did when I showered with my first iPod(I was 8 :P). Stuff it in an underwear drawer for 2 years. It'll work. Or, as some say, you can leave it in a bag of rice for at least a week.
