I'm more suspecting dual screen. But Nintendo will stick to the 90's like Casio and put a resistive touchscreen with a stylus in it.

It's not tha bad, it'll be easier to write down formulaes.
u/Snektron February 06, 2015, 05:25:15 PM
Yeah that's not a bad idea. Someone up for some hw modding? :p
u/Dream of Omnimaga February 06, 2015, 11:28:24 PM
It would be interesting if someone updated WabbitDS actually. It's ancient, though >.< (2006) so maybe it would be best to restart from current versions or redo it from scratch.

As for hardware modding, IMHO what would be cool in short terms is if someone actually tried to make a real Voyage 400, like in the 2003 April Fools joke on ticalc.org. A classic would come to birth XD

Ah, got it. Maybe I'll make a to-do list of all the friends cool posts to rate up once I get there.

Who wants to bet that's what's next? A separate model name for each color they introduce! Then they can just discontinue colors and reintroduce them as new models. Saves costs over their current strategy, see. :D
u/Dream of Omnimaga February 07, 2015, 12:28:22 PM
On the other hand they could do the opposite:

New color calc: $130
Replacement monochrome model: $120
Reintroduced and renamed color calc: $150

They do that with food, after all :P

I would love a wabbit for ds update. It would actually give me a reason to use my ds light again.

Also ti's marketing is rediculous, I can't believe that they've lasted with all the names that don't make sense.

And DJ are you talking about double cheeseburger vs. hamburger vs. like double whopper or something.

Nah. More the fact they reduce package size, keep the same price then later rerelease the original format for twice the price.

Haha gold, its pretty crazy the naming conventions they use, its as if they hired people from Nintendo's Pokémon, DS or Gameboy naming teams to help out.
New Nintendo 3 & Knuckles DS

Now imagine if Nintendo made calcs O.O

New Alpha TI-84+SE Stats Pocket CSE.fr Color Advanced SP XL 2 & Knuckles.
u/Dream of Omnimaga February 12, 2015, 03:28:22 AM
Nah they would get sued for using TI calc names. :P I'm thinking more of Nintendo Calc DS :P

THis would be nice for graphing stuff, though. You would see equations in the first screen or a table, while the bottom screen would have the graph window.
u/Snektron February 12, 2015, 09:22:39 AM
And it could open up a whole new world for developers.
Why are we not funding this?

oh right, money...
u/CKH4 February 12, 2015, 02:56:49 PM
A Nintendo and TI merger would be really cool. It would make me buy a new Ds.
u/Dream of Omnimaga February 12, 2015, 05:35:23 PM
That said, since one day smartphones will most likely replace calculators entirely (it's possible if they do it right, unlike Lexibook's attempt) so I doubt any new company will attempt to enter the graphing calculator hardware market.
u/CKH4 February 12, 2015, 09:22:36 PM
But since schools still disagree with using a calculator for everything I expect it to take a while for them to start using phones instead.
