Comic books you bought

Don't think there's a topic about that, but I'm making one because I bought a bunch of them this week at the Nadeshicon (anime convention in Québec City) and the International book fair of Québec City, where I volunteered with the 30th Francophone Comic Book Festival. Most of these are in French, but some are also in English. So here we go, in no particular order.

Frivolesque, vol. 2 by Dez, Éditions Rémi Paradis
A bunch of you know that one, it's one of my favourite webcomics, this book collects the comics on the site over the last 2 years. It's pretty interesting because it's like a 4-koma slice of life manga, except it takes place in my hometown of Québec City, Canada.

Nice sci-fi magazine, now with columnists like Luduc and Denis Talbot (formerly of Musique Plus).

Aventurosaure by Julien Paré-Sorel
The adventures of a dinosaur. Same guy who draw the new Dans une Galaxie près de chez vous comics, to be released in 2018.

It's like Archie comics, except everyone's faces are weird and the dialogue does not make any sense.

Le Bouddha Brisé, chapitre 1 (The Broken Buddha, chapter 1) by Esbé, Berber 13-13
Another comic that takes place in Québec City. There's even cameos from Frivolesque, but it's the complete opposite of it as it's the story of some guy on the verge of "dissociation".

Hiver nucléaire 1 & 2 (Nuclear winter 1 & 2) by Cab, Front Froid
This one is the story of a girl in a post-apocalyptic Montréal, years after a nuclear accident that left a permanent winter behind.

The very last comic book i bought was Asterix and the Picts.
It wasn't too bad but it kind of fell short of what i expected.
For some reason, i no longer find comic books like Asterix funny anymore, even though i used to read a lot of them quite often.
Now, i even prefer webcomic over the old traditional comic book.
It's just that Asterix/Titeuf/allsames*** is the same over and over again...

People these days would rather go on Youtube rather spend 10€+ on a book that will last at most 30 minutes, if not less.
Plus it's animated with sound.

Heh, then you'd totally love some of those books. Some of these comics I listed and bought (Frivolesque, Hiver nucléaire 1) have originally been published for free on the Internet as webcomics, yet people buy the books because they either really liked it and want to support the author, or they prefer a paper copy, or even both. As far as I know, both of those books sold really well, Frivolesque in particular has gone through 2 reprints of the first volume. Not bad for a small webcomic.

I do know about Frivolesque (it was thanks to you actually) and i read it occasionally but i didn't know they made a physical comic book version of it. (your post was a bit vague about this)
It's not too bad and sometimes it gives me a few chuckles but i wouldn't pay a physical copy for it i guess.

I will check out Hiver nucléaire later, thx juju.

Yeah, all those I listed are the physical versions I bought fresh (and, for most of them, dedicaced with a cute drawing) from the hands of the authors themselves this week. And yeah, Dez must love me now because I recommand his comic to so much people
