Title: DJ album artworks from the past
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on July 21, 2015, 02:39:23 AM
Aside from TI-84+, TI-84+CSE, CE and HP Prime programming, I also made music and over the years I have reached about 200 original songs of various genres: Eurodance, trance, UK hardcore, happy hardcore, electronic power metal and video game soundtrack. This is my discography and web links

Unfortunately, in 2007 I lost half of the album cover artwork files I had except for low quality GIFs at lower resolution. The first 5 albums are the ones affected. Luckily, however, back in the day I printed cheap jackets for CD covers and back covers using the high quality image files, so now I have decided to scan them then filter them so that higher quality versions of my old album covers can once again be seen! Keep in mind that for the Destiny Knight and canceled Magic Hardcore albums, there was never a back cover made for it. The first images won't be as good as the 2007-08 files, but at least they will be much better than the 350x350 (or worse) GIF files I had.

Here is the list of my releases below:

Main releases:
2003: Omnidance 1 (cassette)
2003: Omnidance 2 (cassette)
2007: Epic Journey Through the Galaxy
2007: Journey through the Moon Dark Side (originally released as Dark Side of the Moon)
2007: Enter the Dream World
2007: Angel In the Stars
2008: It's the End of Time
2009: Destiny Knight
2011: Tales of the Knight of the Moon
2014: Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga Special Edition (The last two combined together)
2017: In UK Hardcore and Dance we Trust
2017: Illegal Music Chemistry
2017: Hardcore Spectrum Disorder
2019: Maze of Life
2019: Hardcore Bloodbath

Others (cassette recordings, compilations, unfinished albums, etc)
2007: Hardcore Armageddon (DJ mix)
2012: A Decade of Magic Hardcore (2002-2012) (compilation)
2012: A Decade of Omnidance (2002-12) (compilation)
2019: Superstar Hero - The Original Soundtrack

There are obviously no original covers for the Omnidance albums, as they used recordable cassettes and I had no computer back then to create cassette artwork.

Thought it might be, though why would the album cover destroy your own city? O.O

Well I was talking more in the sense that it wouldn't matter anymore which destroyed city my album cover showed. :P (Although most people would pick New York because apparently it's the cool Hollywood thing to do)

By the time Hollywood looks like in my album cover, they will probably be hit by some big earthquake. But again, maybe Quebec City too since we haven't been hit by a major one for 90 years <.<

They say that there is going to be some HUGE earthquake for Oregon and Cali

Yeah they call it the big one. It's probably based on how there was a massive one in the early 20th century and the 1989 or 1994 earthquakes so they predict another big one could happen in the next decades or so. This is why they've been building stuff that can (hopefully) survive such quake.

I also heard that th costal areas are not well prepared for it though, like the waving and things.
Title: Re: DJ album artworks from the past
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on July 31, 2015, 10:51:57 PM
It probably depends which ones. In any case, if any coastal area is near an underwater tectonic plate fault, then they are in trouble unless their city is protected by some big wall and even then, a big tsunami might still be able to go over it, as it happened in some Japanese cities in 2011.

We should probably get back on-topic, though :P (we already have an earthquake topic somewhere anyway)

This was made earlier, even though this album was never finished (and probably will never be). I needed an album cover to upload two of my 2014 electronic metal songs on Youtube. :P

My plan was to have either a space artwork or something on top of a cliff near the sea at night, but the space one was more likely due to the sci-fi theme of the first song. :P Thanks by the way. Now I wish I had inspiration to finish that album. It could always be an EP or some special album that combines past unused songs with some new ones, though, like Sonata Arctica's Takatalvi or Stratovarius Intermission album. But doing this would mean the demise of the Unfinished single on my Bandcamp so maybe I would be better off renaming that single and moving the songs instead if that ever happens.

By the way, to show how I like to recycle my art, the following all started with an unused 2008 Omnimaga background (a different one that was more old-school, pixel-wise, was used):

Hey nice to see you again CMG :D

As for drawing stuff, I personally just recycle old fractals I made 8+ years ago. Basically, an unused 2008 Omnimaga site background was later recolored for use with my canceled album Magic Hardcore, then in 2010 it was recolored again to be used as new Omnimaga background (which was used until 2013, so both of you probably saw it before). In 2011, I re-used Omnimaga background in Tales of the Knight of the Moon (in perspective, 3D ish mode). Then in 2012 I recycled the Magic Hardcore cover again for use in A Decade of Magic Hardcore and Omni Dance, then in 2014 in In UK Hardcore we Trust. And finally, in 2016 I did a major spiral effect on the In UK Hardcore we trust album cover, added a start background in the middle and basically that's where those album covers are from. :P

On a side note CMG I finally had time to listen to more of your discography. Cloud Cruiser, especially the fast version, are fricking amazing *.* (even if they use premade samples I like how well they were used). Also Modern Thoughts is another of my favorites so far.

I have one suggestion, though: For the second Cloud Cruiser song, maybe specify it's a remix, because in my playlist both have identical titles. :P Anyway I like the happy hardcore style of that album so far (Channel Utopia). I think @kotu might like. Also OMG at that Super Mario 64 Dire Dire Rocks remix *.*

The mother of all album covers *-*
I bet the next one will be the spiral but with an effect similar to "a decade of magic hardcore" buuut with a huge walrus in the center ;D
I still wish I had them all as CDs with printed covers... :'(

Lol actually I doubt I'll use a walrus, unless I make an album intended to be the OST of a Walrii game. :P

I would, of.course. I am more likely to make a JRPG with actual characters, though, and a rock soundtrack. If I make  a PC game again, that is.

In UK Hardcore and Dance we Trust is now an album of the same format as my first 5 releases rather than a full-lenght album with new songs, since it's kinda clear I won't be finishing it otherwise. What this mean is that the 2nd album song is the title song, as usual, and the format is like Stratovarius Intermission: A mix of old content that never made it outside a compilation/best of and a few new songs. I think it's quite fitting, though, because many of my 2009-12 happy hardcore songs use the same percussion loops and style as the 2014-16 ones.

Both of those were made Thursday, although the original albums came out in Jan 2009 and Feb 2017, respectively, but the 2009 one is how I would have made it way back then. They just happened to lack any CD jewel case tray artwork. And yes I know there is a typo in the IUKHADWT one x.x, but have you ever seen an UK hardcore album track list with no typo anyway? <_<

only the copyright section is a bit fat xD
do you really have to give the year of the copyright for every song? ^^

Yeah lol when I released Illegal Music Chemistry and In UK Hardcore and Dance we Trust I decided to update the background, since it has been nearly 15 years since I started making music.

Not much of a big update, but I just updated my album back cover backups for the latest two releases. Now the copyright of the entire album is included above the existing individual song copyrights, so that people know which year the albums came out. The change has yet to be applied to Kunaki, though. I'll try to do so later this Summer when I feel like re-uploading all songs from scratch (you cannot edit existing releases)

This used some filter on some website but I thought it ended up looking kinda cool:

The best would have been if the distortion applied to the PLAY/SP 0:00:00 text was also applied to the background picture, though, for a more realistic effect.

This picture kinda illustrates what Illegal Music Chemistry is like, since 8 of the songs are cassette recordings. :P
