Title: I just bought Caustic for Android and it's awesome
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on December 22, 2018, 01:35:49 AM
See topic title. Anyone tried this software before? I think this will be my main music DAW when I have limited computer access now, with Fake SID being second. I'm sticking with MTV Music Generator/Music 2000 for 90's style music, though.

Oh I had that program, it looks very cool! I never used it cause I'm not a maker of music though.

I just found out last night that there is a PC version as well that works under WINE. However, it works identically as the Android version, so no proper CTRL+C/V shortcut or similar keybindings. It works fine, though, despite being unsupported, and can even use the same music files as the Android version. Pretty convenient if you wanna use both versions.

So far I made quite a few songs using Caustic software of many genres and here they are from first to most recent:

https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/moon-knight-2019 (UK Hardcore)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/lost-decade-room-k-4125-mix (Sega Genesis-inspired song)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/califourchon (Trance)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/ears-of-sarosto (Power metal-ish/game soundtrack)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/ears-of-sarosto-alternate-mix (same)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/dont-let-him-laugh (Power metal)
https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/lost-decade (Power metal)

Fun fact: I tried to inspire myself from my older songs despite the instruments sounding different. For example, the last version of Lost Decade, which acts as the main one, is heavily inspired from Quest from the Legendary Axe and Moon Knight 2019 is heavily inspired from my 2009-2014 UK hardcore material.

Some weird song I made (more techno-style than my usual melodic songs) https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/escalating-thoughts

I also did this UK hardcore track https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/hardcore-rehab

And guess what! There is now a remix of The Summer Trance! https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/the-summer-trance-2019

Were they also made on Caustic? I honestly couldn't really get down with Escalating Thoughts, but I don't like much techno in general. I like the other two though! My favorite was Hardcore Rehab. I like songs with variation in the tune.

Yeah, Escalating Thought was experimental, kinda inspired from Nightmare in the Rave. And yes they were all made with Caustic software (I didn't have access to MTVMG at the time)

Thanks! Now I started importing some MTVMG sounds to Caustic 3 so I'll be able to use both sounds at once.

EDIT: Here's an eurodance song

I forgot to post this one: It's another UK hardcore song called Gluten-Free Hardcore and it has a lot of 8-bit influences.

I had the intro of this new song ready since a while ago, but now I made a full song out of it called New Quebec Order

Here's another Caustic 3 song, this time eurodance inspired from the 90's and chiptune music:

Hi, my newest single, Ride the 90's, is now released!

https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/single-ride-the-90s-2

It contains 4 versions of the song of the same name: Eurodance, trance, chiptune trance and happy hardcore, all inspired by the 90's.

Speedcorama: https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/speedcorama
Clouded Future (UK Hardcore Remix): https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/clouded-future-uk-hardcore-remix
The Eurodance Song That Goes Bersek: https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/the-eurodance-song-that-goes-bersek

Also for some reason, I didn't post about Obelisk of Life in this topic (probably in another): https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/obelisk-of-life

I have begun fixing up a few songs from my album Maze of Life that I made while learning Caustic 3 software with no access to my MTVMG sample bank in late 2018 early 2019. I already updated Moon Knight 2019 last year and now I am updating Califourchon with a 2021 mix: https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/califourchon-2021-mix

EDIT: It's now "Attack of the Nuclear Kittens" turn! https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/track/attack-of-the-nuclear-kittens-2021-mix

Here is another electronic power metal song from me called "Return to Omnimaga". It's kind of an hommage to my song "Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga" from the album of the same title and uses many sounds from MTV Music Generator. It also pays hommage to my other Caustic software power metal songs.
