My first post on this forum in forever and it's on *this* topic. (freaking bot using @everyone).

Anyways, I don't mind @here since it only notifies you when you are logged in/have the program running. It's useful when you're trying to get people on a small server to play video games or what have you.

@everyone has two uses:

1) Annoy everyone everywhere
2) Notify people of important stuff (server announcements, Strat-op fleets for EVE, etc.)

WAIS is only available in real life due to the fact that some of the tests require physical manipulation of objects, as well as the use of precision timing from the tester.

I'm so hyped for this. I lost my install disk forever ago, so I'm really glad I can download this now and play it!

Also Ranman I thought the term limit was 8 years already?
Only on the presidency.

On a side note:
Also it turns out I'm a classical liberal, if I were to categorize myself beyond "libertarian." I was doing some reading and stumbled upon the definition of a classical liberal and it fits me perfectly. Random Wikipedia readings help with self-discovery, I guess. Also social liberalism isn't classical liberalism and visa-versa.

Interesting video with an explanation of what classical liberalism is:

4K monitors won't be required. It's just that 4K will be supported.

HYPE!

I lost my install disc for Brood War, so I've been sitting here playing SCII/WoL. Now that this has been announced, it means I won't have to worry about my the missing installation media.

I'm too lazy to take this test, but I took a WAIS-IV test recently as part of a psychological battery. I actually have two scores I can use. FSIQ is 130 but GAI is 136. Since there's a disparity between my GAI and the WMI/PSI scores, it brings down the FSIQ and it's more acceptable for me to use my GAI instead of my FSIQ.

tl;dr: 136, based on one I took IRL

FFXIV is the first one that comes to mind, I really enjoy it (although there is a monthly fee).

Guild Wars 2 always good, and there's a free version now. If you want to upgrade, it's a one time payment instead of a monthly fee, so that's a plus.

And finally, EVE went free to play recently. While I haven't played much, I know a lot of people who have a lot of fun with it. Just make sure you follow the subreddit and find a good corp to join once you're done with the tutorials. I can link you to an anime-related EVE discord server (warning: I'm not active/I only lurk on it, so no one would really know me (also I don't go by pimath on discord)) if you think you'd be interested. There are several corps that have a userbase there.

My personal reccomendation goes to FFXIV if you want a great story/predominately single player experience, GW2 if you don't want to spend money and don't want to talk with strangers about space battles, and EVE if you want to have it consume your life (assuming you like it).

Such a result from a member can't be true, is this the so-called 'fake news' ? :ninja:

If it were fake news, you'd have to be authoritarian to shut me down :P

Codewalr.us should make the test compulsory and anyone who's a tiny part of the right should be BANNED !

Not again.

So I started watching Interviews With Monster Girls. It's pretty good, and it touches on disabilities in a way I really like.

I second Your Lie in April. It's a good drama.

In addition, here are some general recommendations:
  • Fullmetal Alchemist '03 and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, in that order - Both are really good. The first one focuses more on the building of Ed as a character pre-c hitting the fan, but Brotherhood is, in general, better. By watching '03, you feel more for Ed though, through both iterations of the series.
  • Hibike! Euphonium - Yes, I'm a band nerd. Yes, this is KyoAni. Yes, the characters look moe af. Yes, there is yuri(baiting). However, all that stuff, even if you don't like it, can be set aside for a really good, true-to-life, down-to-earth drama. Unlike Your Lie in April, which is a more dramatic form of drama (as in, "this is sad but this isn't going to happen to me most likely"), also using musicians, Hibike! tells a story that is closer to something that could happen to anyone. Both are good shows, but if you're not into being depressed 24/7, I suggest Hibike!
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Shounen for people who don't like shounen. It's 100+ episodes in its current state, but it's also split up into distinct parts, making it easier to watch.
  • The Devil is a Part Timer - One of the funniest comedies I've ever watched, in any medium. Satan working at McDonald's, need I say more?
  • Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica - Magical girl anime for people who don't like magical girl anime. It's really. freaking. good.

Current Season Watch List:

Dragon Maid
Kono Suba

...This season isn't very interesting, if all I'm watching are comedies :/

My two cents: I don't think up/down-voting should be available on IRC if one can just up/down-vote someone without context. I propose, if there is any karma tracking, that each up/down-vote be tied to a message and only one up/down-vote be allowed per voter per message, the same way it works on the forums.

As for syntax, I have an idea. I can spin up a quick IRC bot to test and once I do, explain the syntax, if you guys would like.

EDIT: The proposed syntax would be ([name]++ [message number]) | ([name]-- [message number])
[message number] refers how many messages the person upon whose messages are being voted sent since the voted message. If left blank, it would assume 0
example:

<pimath> | Pizza is the best food ever
<randomPizza> | pimath++ 0
<pimath> | wow thanks
<randomTaco> | pimath-- 1
<randomTaco> | wrong tacos are the best
<randomPizza> | randomTaco--

Obviously this scenario is a bit contrived, but it gets the point across. "Pizza is the best food ever" gets upvoted and then downvoted, for a net change of zero. "wrong tacos are the best" gets downvoted for a net change of negative one.
