Off topic(I guess): Could the screen only display 4 colors or was it more of a processor limitation?

I think that was more a technical limition coming from the chips used for this console. The display was actually a TV so it's not a 4color display.

You can use much more than 4 colors at a time actually. But only 1 color per horizontal line in the sprite can be used IIRC and using more than 1 color per sprite requires using special tricks IIRC.

Apparently it is possible. The console only has 128 bytes of RAM as well. But back in the 80's that didn't seem to matter, because look at all the Atari 2600 games there was and there were a few good ones.

Im not really familiar with such old consoles, but it sound really weird... I mean 128 is not really a lot.

, plus some games like Pitfall were really impressive and fun considering the limitations. E.T and Pac Man 2600 don't make the console's justice.

But did they put the whole program on those 128 bytes? or did they some kind of ram-page swap kind of thing?
