Super Mario Bros 3 World 1 (xMarminq's version) https://codewalr.us/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1815.0;attach=1250
New Super Mario Bros Level 1 to 3 (Raiseit) https://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=815357
Rush and Jump (Flamoute) https://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=834641
Illusions (TI64CLi++) https://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=828586
Like with the Mario Maker thread, share your Oriam creations here :) (ideally when they are finished, you should maybe upload to ticalc.org (TI-84 Plus CE Assembly Game Levels) and link to the file page in this thread. Anyway, so far I am still learning how to use the editor but I decided to go with a somewhat unconventional Mario 3 level: Rainbow Road :P

There is only 1 level in my package sadly, but that level isn't very easy so it might last you a while. :P (the above screenshot only shows about half of the level but the second half isn't as hard)

UPDATE (see later posts): There are now 4 levels and the new download link is https://codewalr.us/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1815.0;attach=1243 and here's a video of the updated level pack:
@kotu stop with those provocative messages. Insulting other members is uncalled for. CodeWalrus is meant to be free of hostility and we will not let you  ruin the site friendly atmosphere.

XMarminq yeah there are issues with Avast and the level editor. You need to disable the antivirus during the entire time you're making levels. I cannot launch the editor otherwise. It's just Avast being garbage, there.

That has nothing to do with making a screenshot though :P
You probably need an emulator like CEmu for that. I'm not a TI user tho.

Just the first level. Ask for permission first, I want to keep secret passages secret. Thanks for the screenshot!
Title: Re: Oriam levels
Post by: critor on January 07, 2017, 05:20:21 PM
Does the image show which passage links to which other one ?

No intention of spoiling the level.
It's just my way of promoting your work, of making people wanting to play it, of showing you that I do appreciate your huge work.

For the moment there are very few custom levels. But when there'll be more of them, how do you want players to choose your level if they don't have a preview of the map ?

I've never asked for permission for freely sharing (and correctly crediting) screenshots of something which is already available online for free, whether it is a game level, a game or a program, screenshots that anybody can take here by just opening the file in the editor. It didn't even come to my mind that you wouldn't be happy with this.

If the problem is that, in your opinion, the screen is showing too many non displayable details, then we need some kind of an "export PNG map" feature in the level editor, which is going to generate a clean image (without the non-displayable informations). I'll then be able to use it.

Or you may want a 'password' feature in the editor too, in order to protect the level so that nobody else is going to be able to open it, whether it is for modifying it, checking the secrets, or taking a screenshot.

This is why it's your time to shine and learn C in order to fork the Oiram level editor and Oiram itself ;)
Also, unless the level format is encrypted (omg, please don't do that) it will still be able to 'break' in without knowing the password.

Using passwords or encryption to protect level contents would buy nothing but complexity, indeed.

And someone will make a password decrypter or Action Replay thing sooner or later. IIRC there's a tool like that for Sam Heald's Mario levels somewhere on ticalc.org.

Also @xMarminq_ your level looks fun :)

EDIT: By the way, because Oiram level editor doesn't require the player to beat the level before saving it (unlike Mario Maker), make sure your levels are beatable before posting them, unless they're sandbox style levels not intended to be beaten or something (but make sure to mark them as such if that's the case).

This is a screenshot of the first level in my pack, which now has three levels. The bottom hole is now two blocks large, though, as Mario got stuck in it otherwise when trying to get out.

It's inspired from the last room in the Sunken Ship in Mario World.  Thanks again Mateo for repairing my file. :) Also I'll try your levels guys later :)

On a side note I tried some levels by other people, most notably a SMB3 style level set (that actually is identical to SMB3 with some exceptions and a SMB1 level set with SMB3 graphics. Something to keep in mind in Oiram CE when making levels is that each level can only be 1 single map, so if you're gonna include bonus rooms in your stage, put them above the rest or on the side where it can't be reached, if possible. Otherwise when you fall into pits this is what happens:

Those SMB1 and 3 level sets can definitively do the job for those who really wanted the original levels, though. By the way, you can download them at https://github.com/Pieman7373/Pieman7373s-Oiram-Packs and https://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=795982

Another thing is that enemies cannot be placed on a block, so they leave a sky square behind when you do so. Ideally I think it's ok if your maps have the same sky color everywhere. And you can probably just use those blue blocks to simulate the sky when possible, for example if the first room is just a pipe to enter an underground area.

My level pack now has a 4th stage!

The GIF is choppy because I wanted to keep its file size down. It's a castle level for the most part and when you beat Reswob almost all blocks disappear, unlocking many portions of the level. I bet @MateoConLechuga did not expect many people to use that many red unlockable castle blocks in a single level :P

Here is a download link for my level pack :D

On a side note, I tried making a water level in which all the walls were made of lava, but it turns out that the collision box for lava is pretty lax about how far into the lava Mario can go, so that won't work. On the other hand, I can always try to make a water level where all walls are jellyfishes, but make sure it's the first stage and has no power-ups. :P

How did you do that multicolor background ??
Title: Re: Oiram levels
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on January 25, 2017, 05:51:50 PM
I used those big plain-colored blocks that are white, green, blue and orange like in the first level of Super Mario 3, but I only used the middle portion of them for the most part. For the pink, I simply made the sky pink and for the black, I used the level ending blocks.

Wow that looks cool actually and quite true to the original game. Also I had completely forgotten that NSMB DS had vertical scrolling in levels, I was sure they made it horizontal-only in hommage to the original SMB.

Looks very good Raiseit. As for moving platforms they are not supported, sadly. I still think Oiram CE is an amazing feat for the CE, though.

EDIT: Lol even with many bowsers there is lag but nowhere as bad as in original Mario games

Adding moving platforms is a little bit harder than adding a custom tile.
However, take into consideration to learn C - it is worth it.

Guys, if you make new levels, make sure to post screenshots (except spoilers you don't want to spoil) and post the levels when ready :)

I haven't made any level in ages, though.

Also you should all upload your levels to http://www.ticalc.org/pub/84plusce/asm/games/levels/ when you get a chance (I should do so as well soon)
