I'll have to check that when I get home. I am 100% sure they are still enabled, though.

EDIT @brentmaas I just checked now that I'm back home and those options are enabled.
Oh, okay. It's good to check, though, because Windows can do some weird things to your settings at certain events, like disabling recovery points when upgrading from 8.1 -> 10. You won't really know about that until your pc died for some reason and you don't have any backups.

@brentmaas it happened last August, then it stopped until Christmas holidays. Then it stopped from Early January to late February and then again from then until April. I'll check if I have those files. Note that I never actually saw a BSOD appear on this computer, though.

EDIT: I have MEMORY.DMP and Minidump/101715-41371-01.dmp on my PC, but the last modified and creation date is from October 17 2015.
In that case, you can rule it out, unless memory dumps have been magically disabled (System - Advanced system settings - Advanced - Startup and recovery - System failure - Write debugging information).

I had this problem once as well recently, do the following files exist on your pc?
-C:/Windows/MEMORY.dmp
-C:/Windows/Minidump/XXXXXX-XXXXX-XX.dmp (insert random numbers on X)

If you answer "yes" to at least one of those questions, you're most likely dealing with BSODs. Browse eventvwr around the time of the crash or use some 3rd party program (I like BlueScreenView from Nirsoft) to determine the bugcheckcode.

The notes of a test were quite late so me and @Cumred_Snektron were going to forge an email from the teacher saying some of them went missing. It looked pretty believable, but someone else was faster than us andjust said they were up, but messed up a little by making it a bit too obvious.

One time I trolled a website so hard a decade ago that I'm still banned there.
@allynfolksjr let me guess, omni?
I once made an account on Omni, a couple of months before CW, whose userpage couldn't be accessed, because the username contained a percent xD.

Just a minute ago, I made sure the audio on a school laptop was on full and the wifi connected, then, I added the following to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Run (run it in cmd ;P):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" goo.gl/QMET
I'll be just 10 meters down the hall the next two hours.

EDIT: did a second one with Dirt On Me
EDIT 2: Forgot to mention the first one went off during the second half of class, but was unfortunately ruined because of YouTube's ads.
Reliable intel told me that the laptops were not used after the end of class.

"Watch out!", they cried to Brent, as the dust dragons encircled his head, preparing to attack his precious respiratory system. Brent quickly glanced, then attacked them with a vacuum cleaner.... The battle was short, but fierce. Brent had won. Relieved, he headed to the Mountains of Cloth to continue his quest for the Receipt of Disks...
That made me laugh xD

My epic quest for the receipt continues. I'll just have it replaced with Intenso (the manufactorer) when I find it.
#24

Oh well... Time to try and find the receipt again...

Wait, so, did you lose anything?
It was a fresh disk, so no, fortunately :).

That sucks Brentmaas. To be honest, though, I didn't know that Windows 7 legacy Backup existed until tonight. Is it built-into 10?
Yeah it comes with Win10, probably for simplifying upgrades.

This is....just....disturbing.....

Sorry about your computer, tho. :walrii:
Thanks :P, my computer seems to be a little drunk sometimes. Recently, an update failed that prevented me from using the start menu, but this failed update had symptoms similar to an imminent harddisk failure. Spent the whole afternoon transferring files and staring at chkdsk C: until I did a system restore. The only reason I tried system restore last is that if my disk would actually fail, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for losing 500GB of data that I had gathered over the last six years.

Forgot to mention I tried programming my own simple backup utility. Kind of put it aside because of recent school projects.

Long story short; about three months ago I wanted to use said program to create a backup of my Windows 10 machine. It failed again and again, and a thorough chkdsk revealed that every single cluster of the external HDD it was writing to was marked bad.

Today I managed to get myself to have a look at it. Interestingly, a little digging with diskpart made me discover that -8MB (yes, negative 8 megabytes) was free for usage. I erased the partition and did a full format, taking about 6,5h. So far I seem to be able to create txt-files on it again, another chkdsk will be done to confirm the disk's functionality.

I now believe Windows 7 legacy Backup raped (most accurate expression) the poor disk's MBR.

tl;dr: Window 7 legacy Backup destroys external harddisks on Windows 10.

Wouldn't it be better to use the BBcode spoiler tag xD?

Lol it would be funny we could port Axe games to Minecraft command blocks and have them run on a big screen. The server lag would be atrocious if this didn't use mods, though.
If you agree on using mods, why not ComputerCraft or OpenComputers?
