Back in the days, highlighting/mentioning every single user at once in an IRC chat room usually led to massive backlash or even an instant ban...
...but it's OK to do it on Discord? ???
Anyway personally I disabled @everyone/@here on every single server I'm on (even CW) xd

Everytime I join a new server and forget to change my notification settings xd

My first post on this forum in forever and it's on *this* topic. (freaking bot using @everyone).
Anyways, I don't mind @here since it only notifies you when you are logged in/have the program running. It's useful when you're trying to get people on a small server to play video games or what have you.
@everyone has two uses:
1) Annoy everyone everywhere
2) Notify people of important stuff (server announcements, Strat-op fleets for EVE, etc.)
There's that one server I'm on where they greet @everyone every morning but sometimes two or three people might do it.
So I look at my notifications seeing 3 new ones, thinking my friends want to chat or something, only to find out it's just someone using @everyone to say good morning.
