Title: Soundcloud addition as social media
Post by: ztortat on December 20, 2016, 11:02:01 PM
I think you should add Soundcloud account sync for your music makers so it will be easier to post music

I personally think that might be cool, but I dont know how far this is possible and how easy it will be to implement...

Hi,

I should check if OneAll Social Plugin supports that. We can probably add it to user profile links, though.

EDIT: Darn it doesn't look like it does D:

Indeed, this is something we should look at. A few people here, including me, have a Soundcloud account full of music.

So I checked OneAll website and in January 2016, they added Soundcloud to their TODO list. I could not find any indication that it's now supported, though, let alone evidences that the SMF mod did.

In any case, even when it is, it will take a while before we upgrade, because OneAll SMF plugin has a nasty bug that resets all settings to defaults everytime you upgrade, so once we upgrade, we will have to setup all social networks again from scratch on our forums, one by one, as well as the API key and stuff.

For the time being, what we did @ztortat is that we have added the ability to add your Soundcloud and Bandcamp to your user profile, alongside your Reddit and Steam nicknames. I still need to make icons and get juju to upload them, though.

Hm weird, I actually made it so you only have to insert the username ???

Just to be clear - what would having soundcloud as a social network link bring, that the current soundcloud link icon does not have?

Seems fine as it is

@kotu users would be able to login to the forums using their Soundcloud account, like we can already do with Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. Same with registering new accounts.

It might be convenient since the site tends to attract musicians.

Oh right, I forgot about URLs being sometimes different. I'll change the description of both fields so that users put in the URL version of their usernames (eg without the spaces) and to look at the address bar
