So, I've been researching things like the Rpi 2 and ODROID mini computers, and I've come to a decision. I want to get an ODROID.  I want to use the ODROID to run a minecraft server, for at least 8 people at a time.

So there is the ODROID C1+, for 35 dollars 1gb or ram. http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G143703355573

Then, there is the ODROID XU4, for 77 dollars with 2 Gb of ram. http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G143452239825

Which one should I get? Is the price difference worth the ram and things? Keep in mind I want to run a survival minecraft server.

The XU4 has not only double the RAM but also a CPU that is much much much faster than the C1+. I'd recommend that you get the XU4 if you have the budget for it. It's not only the frequency, the XU4 has a cortex a15 which is newer and much more efficient than the cortex a5 on the C1+. This makes a huge performance gap clock for clock.

Ok, but if I do get this, I'll have to wait to get money for an hp prime. Im kind of thing this will be better in the long run, but we will see.

If a 2gb server is enough for a server with a few people playing ftb, will these two probably be able to handle a normal server with a few people. I'd get a vps for that kind of thing though.

I'm thinking about getting the 70 dollar one, and waiting to get an HP Prime.

Better just rent a deddicated minecraft server. It costs only about 4 or 5 eur a month for this small amount of players.

I could, but this has more miscellaneous uses. (my parents don't really want me spending money on minecraft) so if I get bored of minecraft, there is always other server-like things I can use it for. (it could also be a travel computer)

The XU4 seems like the best option. Browsing the web with just 1 GB of RAM seems to be more and more challenging nowadays.

Well, if you're not running a standard 4-5 Chrome tabs. Though not even with Chrome i go over 1G.
I don't get all the fuss about Chrome eating ram. I mean of you have a decent PC you have at least 4-8GB ram, which is well enough to run Chrome plus a few
other programs.

For me Firefox uses 1.4GB with 69 tabs open. That's not a lot. :P If you have only 4 or 6GB it is though. I have 16GB ram so I'm not really restricted by that.

The XU4 is indeed far more powerful and versatile.

My main concern is if you have under 1 GB RAM then it seems like certain popular sites will have issues opening. On the PSVita with 512 MB of RAM, websites that take more simply won't open at all (an error will occur).

On a side note, does the ODROID have video memory? IIRC that was an issue that plagued the Raspberry Pi 2, where everything involving graphics (even a NES emulator) would lag due to lack of a graphics card

I believe it does... the X4, at least. Anyways, I'm gonna see how everything turns out, with Arduinos and HP Primes, and my money.
