They are vibrissaes. This is why walruses have mustaches. But the other Walrii sprites are too small to have any.

But normally vibrissae don't look that...contrasting. See this and this.

True, but when I tried having them at lower contrast it looked weird at such low resolution. And leaving them out entirely looked even weirder because of the larger resolution than the original.

Here is a new version with the vibrissaes made less dark or at least less stuffed:

Also I posted this on WIRC last night but this is an update with the updated Walrii above:

It seems to scale well enough to allow a game to use all the frames for a pseudo 3D game, except it would most likely have to be side-scrolling or something.

I like that animation, is that just a succession of scaled frames ?

alexgt

Yep it is. 8*8, 16*16, 24*24, 48*48 (including frame) and 96*96 (including frame)

Oh I meant how there is a big empty gap around the largest of the two walrus sprites. The largest one is actually 89x87 IIRC.

Lol yeah, i was messing around with custom textures in Need for Speed Carbon on the Gamecube (I play that using the Dolphin emulator) and I realized that I could make custom skins for cars. So I put a walrii on my car. I also spent like two hours to make the computers in the garage display a rickroll instead of a screensaver. It works O.O https://sr.ht/4By1.mkv
