I cant decide so i am just asking.(I wanted to do a casio prizm emulator but i dont have the patience to go all the way.)
Number 1 is pretty self explanitory.(mainly for rom hackers to convert the game engine to javascript and make new games with it.(a nes ppu(the 80s version of the gpu/Picture Processing Unit) emulator would be included so you could keep the existing graphics if you wanted))
Number 2 is a platformer with a 1d viewpoint.(In a 3d world you see a 2d picture so in a 2d world you would see a 1d picture.)
dimensions of viewport = dimensions of the world your in - 1
This is because the surface area has the same property. d surface = d world - 1
In mario you view things from outside the world with a 1d viewpoint this would be a 1st person 2d game.
Hmm... though choise... both could be cool
To be honest I am unsure if I get what you mean by 1d and 2d stuff. I personally used to calling Mario 2D as side-scrolling, Zelda as top-down view and Duck Hunt as First-Person 2D shooter. In the case of 3D games, games like Tomb Raider are 3rd-person shooters and Doom is 1st person.
Would the 2nd option be like first person shooters and strategy games, but in 2D? And would it be side-scrolling or top-down? I'M definitively interested by a new game.
THe NES idea seems nice, but the problem is that it will prompt many people to just rip off copyrighted games then release them with replaced sprites, but still in their entirety instead of IPS patches, and it will be hard to tell for forum moderators if the javascript code originates from copyrighted material or not. It would also cause lack of originality, since most people would just release ROM hacks of Super Mario Bros.
But 1D can have only one axis how would you use it?
It's not that hard to imagine ._.
Oh I get it :P, something just clarifies itself when you reread it 3 times :P
I guess if a game was literally 1D then it could simply be a rhythm game. :P
CW Contest v2? :P
I think that will be a little too limited. BUt we never know lol. :P
Im taking that as a challenge and i accept.
There now you have a project :P
Contest v2 with actual graphics? Yes please :D Anyways, good luck and make a topic about it.
