Title: Selling a like-new TI-84+CSE
Post by: Caleb Hansberry on March 14, 2016, 04:11:28 AM
Hello,
I won a TI-84+CSE a couple (?) years ago in an Omnimaga contest. I was thrilled, it was the only thing I've ever won, and am still very happy about it.
However,  while I realize it can be taboo to sell a contest prize like that, I do not use it much anymore, I'm very busy with looking for a job, interviews, study, etc, and not really in the calculator scene anymore, and also, there may be someone here who wants a CSE. I would rather someone have it who will use and enjoy it than to have it sit here continuing to age.
I kept all the original packaging and kept it in very good condition, so it's like new (but with a crapton of games on it because games  O.O). It's worth roughly $90 + shipping on ebay, but I would sell it for $70 + shipping to someone here.

I guess it's fine, considering how long you had the prize for and had it been an older Omni contest it would have been a money prize anyway. But it would definitively be cool if someone from the community managed to buy it. :P

Do you still have other calcs, by the way? I hope you stick around even if not in the calc scene as much :)

I wish I were allowed to spend my own money! I'd definitely buy that-I can't wait forever for DCE9!

Well, personally, if you don't mind waiting a bit for DCE9, then I would suggest against buying it, because when DCE9 comes out, the CSE will pretty much just be a slow version of the CE with only 21.7 KB of RAM instead of 150. If you absolutely want to play the CSE-only games available, then it might be worth it I guess.

I'd better wait, because my science teacher already made sure my parents wouldn't consider returning it, and if I told them this existed for this price, I'd lose my CE.

Oh ok, then it might be better to wait then. I doubt your parents would let you own two calculators anyway.

Is this still for sale? Now that I don't own a calculator, maybe I could buy it behind their backs!  >:D

Bad idea @Dudeman313 . What if your parents put even more restrictions on you if you break their rules?

Yeah.
Beginning of 2015 was also not a good idea.
I was impulsive and starting to get jealous of all the people in this new place, and so I used my dad's credit card to buy myself an iPod.
It did not go well...
