Anyone like chess? I invented a chess derivative called Tach Chess which has rotating pawns and teleport Queens.

It comes with a starter PDF and is free. For Windows XP to 10.

If anyone plays it it would be interesting to see what you think.

Thanks

Sounds fun.

It has nailbomb powerups.

So I saw.

Wow. You played it?

So I tried this solo to see how it works and this would definitively be a fun game if advertised more. I'll add this topic to the games section for more visibility (well, as long as the game remains online). I like the idea of something like Chess but with health bars and the various game modes.

Nice, thanks :)

Sorry there is no CPU-controlled mode, making an AI for this game would be harder than normal chess. I haven't even done any work on that. But it can be quite fun 2-player.  ;)

YEah true. Besides, early 2 player games were not always 2-players, after all. For example, in Super Mario Bros, only one player plays at once, not both. :P

I also had the idea of having it up to 6 player on a big map

That would be a nice thing to try @kotu, as long as we can also play with fewer players and choose if we want a smaller map if we are fewer players. Sometimes we don't have 6 players around. :P

Yeah the 6-player thing was always only going to be an addition to the main format, which is player-on-player

Ah ok. I am curious what it will look like. :)

This was the schema I made when I was developing the idea....

Sides could be arranged into teams ie. 2 teams of 3, or just be a free for all.

I imagined the startup positions in this configuration (for one side) to be a blob with the K+Q in the centre, and the lower value pieces around them. The 7x2 config (as in the demo) wouldn't really be any good, for obvious reasons.

I see. I wonder if it would be better to have some dorm of hexagonal or semi-hexagonal-shaped play field, thougg, tho make everyone's starting position equal. But a real hexagob would require changing the squares to triangles or hexagons.

It should be ok with one big square map as any game basically consists of closing to distance to engage enemy units. With 6 players you could also form teams which I think would be good.
