I just saw this a few minutes ago: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hp.primecalculator

Basically, you can now "emulate" the HP Prime on Android devices, courtesy of HP!

22€? Welp, not going to buy it. It seems quite nice but it just won't get me. For something I couldn't use at school or exams this is quite expensive.

(But we could try to see if it can run 3rd party binary code as some guys found somewhere else on the physical version!)

I am personally surprised that this verion costs money, considering the Windows version is free and doesn't require any ROM. Maybe this means the PC version will eventually become paid? Otherwise I think they want to compete vs smartphones, so I guess releasing their calc software for smartphones is a good move.

I do not know if it could run binary code, but I am fairly sure that HP PPL programs would run.

Yeah i find it strange too that mobile versions of programs cost money while the pc versions are cheaper. Maybe because Google Play costs $25, though its one time onky

Another possibility is that since it's much harder to carry a PC or laptop with you everywhere, then most students probably won't find any use out of the PC version of the simulator, so HP probably decided to not bother charging any money for it. Since students are more likely to use the software on a tablet in class (assuming that some schools allow tablets), then that's another potential revenue stream for HP.

Also at least the price isn't too high compared to TI-Nspire student software. If you buy your Nspire CX used on Ebay or don't have one, then the student software costs at least 6 times as much as the HP software.

Yeah its a no buy for me but it would be cool to have a calc on your phone, only if you could upload programs to it though

Indeed. I am curious if that's possible. I have the feeling that the software will work similarly to the PC version so maybe we need to put the programs manually on the phone in the right folder.

$25, really? Well, at least it's less expensiv than the real thing. And I hope it offers the same features.

IIRC it actually does. Unlike the iPad app for the Nspire which is an entire rewrite with more features, the HP Prime android emulator is basically a direct port of the PC emu. I am curious about if they plan to add some improvements to make it easier to use for mobile users?

1 download, two reviews. I'm confused with google plays counting. It looks nice but not for 20 dollars.

Knowing how Youtube views and ticalc stats work, maybe they are only refreshed a few times per day or week. On Youtube, your view count will sometimes only update once per day or remain stuck at 301. On ticalc.org, download stats are updated once a night.

We have in France 1 to 5 downloads with 3 reviews.

Where can you find the download count anyway? I see 1-5 installs somewhere on the page but maybe I am looking at the wrong thing.
