That's odd; what does she want you to do? I don't think parents should put restrictions on a kid's career choice (as long as it's reasonable, of course). Of course they can voice their opinion, but putting restrictions goes too far imo.
For my 9th grade electives, she told me to pick Cabinet Making as a backup in case I couldn't get Robotics.

Yeah that's rather disrespectful of her IMHO. Once you turn 18 you have all the rights to pursue the career you want. We are not in the 1950's anymore where parents forced you to marry who they wanted you to marry and pursuing the career they wanted you to pursue.

Just save all the money you can, then once you're 18, choose the career you want (if she complains, then bring up the 1st ammendment from the United States constitution). If she kicks you out in revenge then you will at least have some money saved. You shouldn't pursue a career into something you don't like, else trust me, you won't be happy in your future life.
My mom says to marry anyone who isn't white or African-American. :P

I don't want my mom to hate me, so I think I'll probably end up doing some form of health engineering.

Meh, to be honest, she isn't really respecting you that much if she doesn,t want you to do what you like in the future. If she dislikes you or reprimand you for it once you turn 18 then you can simply go see her less often until she caves in. Trust me, if you pursue a carreer in something you don't like, you will regret it. You'll be unhappy at work and it will build up over time until you end up quitting then you'll end up working in retail. That's unless you also like what she wants you to do, though. Also the economy can change so perhaps programming will not be in demand in a few years, but you can do a lot of stuff as a programmer.

Well, I could also end up like that one Indian man Dr. Joseph who's been in college for 31 years and occasionally goes to substitute for teachers because he either never found a field to be interested in or is just an overachiever like that.

In any case, if you ever go into a job that wasn't in your original fields, but you don't mind the job all that much, then you should still make sure to have enough free time beside work (not working too many hours) to have fun with your hobbies.

not yet, me and Ben are planning to make something like this :

I'm going to buy a new motherboard, processor, because they are old

I would like doing something like this at some point, but I was worried about dust/sand, especially during Summer since I live on the 1st floor (I don't live close to the street and it's a wet climate, so less risks of car exhaust deposits and dust storms, but still)
