I will probably change the color.
You should really better just get rid of it. It makes matters worse by quite a lot.
_iPhoenix_ and 123outerme are absolutely right there.
It implies that the forum is dead.

It must have something to do with the society around graphing calculators. The forums were always supported by mostly bored students with a few experts, but they aren't coming like they used to. Is the graphing calculator in the classroom dying, or are students just not curious about pushing the abilities of graphing calculators anymore with all the newer tech?
It may very well be that they are on their way out.
As previously mentioned, Germany ditched them and some other countries are switching to boring tablets.

Hello, beloved CodeWalrus community.

I have been with you almost since the beginning of this site.
Over the years, I have met a lot of interesting people here, that I still have contact to.
I have also found good friends that are more than just online friends.
It's really sad to see the community slowly die because of the lack of activity and honestly some stupid administrative decisions here.
Now, it's time to deddicate some time back to CodeWalrus and keep the community alive.
People, just go to the Latest Activity Feed and just click any post you may find interesting and post something nice.
Tell them your opinion on the topic. Share your ideas and constructive criticism!

Don't let this site die! Also don't let it become a sole Discord channel since Discord can just not replace a flourishing forum.

Hello, I am Boogyboy, I have made this account just to post about a serious issue i'm having with my ti nspire cx, and this seems like a smart enough community.
That's pretty much it, nice to meet everyone, will be posting later.
Laters.
Welcome to CodeWalrus!

I have read your blog post and it's an interesting story you went through.
Clouttery is still installed on my laptop but since it at some point kept refusing to open, I abandoned using it.
Since my phone is not compatible with Clouttery, I had never installed the app either.
I suppose, while there is nothing wrong with it, some people felt put-off with the business aspect of it, since almost all projects in this community are entirely non-profit. They would have rather paied 99 cents or 2 Euros for it once and used it happily ever after.
This is, as I can tell myself, not a viable business model. I have some web-apps running too that cost me money to run them, but fortunately, I get generous donations (usually about 30-50€ per donation) every few months to keep the service running and me motivated to keep working on it.
Talking about Clouttery again, I never really needed to keep track of my battery status, since I keep recharging my phone every night and it usually last for one full day (however, I keep putting it into flight mode and I prefer lower backlight settings, so power consumption is not too big either).
My projects went the same way as your new public transport app. I was the first one to work on that particular project and people started using my services. As far as I know, nobody else offers these services at the moment.

I wish you the best of luck with your new projects.

Cheers

I wonder what led to the decline of activity.
The stats are indeed quite sad to watch and now that many of the original people left, it might have put even more people off. We're at about 10% of the usual activity now, which is quite scary.
But Discord isn't and will never be a viable replacement for a forum. It's also, as already mentioned by gameblabla, a commerical service, with no gurantees in long-term availability and there's no control over the code.
Hopefully CW will recover again. Omni seems to be completely dead by now, considering that you can often see messages that are 1 day or older in OmnomIRC.
And Cemetech does not appear to be all that active anymore, even though it's still a lot busier.

Like in the Netherlands, a lot of people are able to speak English here in Germany too. Unlike France, they don't seem to be that uncomfortable with it.
While that may not be true for small rural areas, in most smaller cities you should be able to get around with English reasonably enough.

However, I don't think another country would benefit you much. In fact, I think people with Autism actually don't like and can't deal well with change, so you may be better off staying in the same continent.

I really like this theme, although the text in the posts is hard to read, so I would suggest choosing a different font. Other than that, looks great!

It would be nice to have this theme as an option for the main site too (theme settings) since the default theme is really had on the eyes at night.
I second this idea for a darker theme. Although something a bit softer then lime green should probably be used, and WIRC should also be darker ;)
Totally agreed. We should find a better text color and font. Also the green should be a little bit softened and WIRC darkened.

So, we've stopped paying for the domain ninjabyte.eu and it got sold and converted to some pr0n/sex site (looks pretty disgusting).
Essentially this is it. Was fun to work on this Europe wide project, but this is the end.

Good news though:
p2 and I are working on a very nice retro system at this very moment that will come with a CRT :D

Also to any admins (I have no clue anymore who is after all these incidents):

Which ones do you, new and old members that haven't posted yet, know and watch?
Does anyone has some suggestions?

Looking awesome, I've been messing with a bit of rpi+teensy stuff of late as well.

Will you consider a colour LCD in the future?
Nice, good luck with your project!

No, I am not going for a color LCD in the future. The first attempt on this did, but then I decided to go as close to the original as possible on this try.
I have searched high and low for this almost fitting replacement monochrome LCD ;)

Again, I am offering you ad-free hosting for as long as you need and I can provide it.
Some minor things may change then (mostly legal things since we are moving the server location to Frankfurt, DE), but most would stay the same.
But again, it's an offer if everything fails ;)

I guess the only two things that would be affected is any type of file sharing and WalrusIRC may need to be turned into OmnomIRC.

I'd volunteer to do some stuff work to keep CW alive if desired ;)

Also I will offer hosting on my server, if you can't keep paying the bills. Just the webspace, not the domain though.
