Hey guys, here on CodeWalrus we always strive to give you the best experience we can on the forums. We heard your complains and suggestions, so the staff team decided to transfer the site to a completely new forum software we wrote. We were working on it a bit in secret since a while now, there's still a few issues we should figure out, but things should work. It's a completely novel way to use the forum, I guess you'll have to get used to it a bit, but I'm pretty sure you'll like it. The change will occur sometime today as most of the server admins will be on, if you don't see it right away there will be a prompt to try the new site out, and the best thing, if you don't like it you can always go back to the previous interface as we know it as both sites will run in parallel.
Just warning you before we put it online, if you have issues with the new thing, you can always complain as usual in the usual section. Otherwise, have fun!
And yeah, I see the date, I assure you it's completely unrelated. You know me, my "april fools" changes always tend to stick, eh MLP Québec, who completely changed URLs and names on a 1st of April? :P
EDIT: Happy April's Fools, of course the site ain't gonna change, but if you liked it, you still can access it from https://codewalr.us/os
Really looking forward to the launch of the new model :)
Yeah same. Just a bug on Android Chrome to iron out by
@Juju first then it should be ready
I bet it changes every single character in posts to ???
Nah, and not :walrii: either :P
Can't wait to deploy this update, it's gonna be good.
I can already predict how it's going to look like :
- Material design
- Big font and huge buttons
- Mobile interface by default
Basically, you force juju to sleep with a gay web designer at Apple and you'll get codewalrus's new user interface.
Pretty much.
It's been deployed, have fun.
Major bug report: we have to scroll horizontally on mobile or dezoom in order to see the entire text.
Also it seems Juju finally did not forget our :walrii: after all

Yeah, I have yet to figure that out. Happens on desktop as well.
Could this be a permanent thing?
Like make it a setting in your profile to see the forums like this?
A theme chooser would be ideal even if technically this is not a SMF theme
i'm guessing this WAS an april's fools joke as this is what i get

awe... i can't post tho. Please fix
@Juju
rm -rf /
Does not work
Apart from that, it's great!
Why did you not go for a cd / cat based navigation style?
Wouldn't that have been even more fun?
Good idea, we might consider that :)

Well it's a fairly new feature, we'll need some time to polish it. It's here to stay, at any rate.

YAY!!!
Ok, once the bugs are kinked out, I have a suggestion:
Perhaps create a new theme for WalriIRC for the theme, perhaps making it a little more terminal-like?
I thought of that too, but didn't had the time yet.
Anyway, I'm back home, glad you liked (or disliked) this, I took all your suggestions and pushed new changes on the site.

>Make WalriiIRC terminal-like
>Terminal
>hell yea!
that'd actually be pretty cool indeed, having a command-line style Web IRC, listening to commands like /HELP and stuff as well O.O
But a lot of aork as well >.<
That depends on how it is set up. I cannot find the source, but shouldn't you just be changing the color of the text, border, and background, then retexturing the buttons? Doesn't seem too hard ;)
Btw even if this is a prank, we should make this an optional theme. All smileys and images should be either disabled or turned into ASCII art, though, for a more authentic DOS experience. :P
Also when an error occurs it should display something like a BSOD from Windows 98
I could theme WIRC so it looks like irssi or weechat, yeah. Otherwise, you probably recognized the standard VGA font on IBM PCs. If you ever installed Linux, this should definitely ring you a bell. The thing is totally different from a theme, and it uses AJAX and SSI.php, so I can't really make it a theme, but yeah, that'd be interesting.
On a side note, United-TI did a similar prank once, somewhere around 2006-08. They replaced their forum theme with a Commodore 64 one. It was not command line, though.
By the way, now that the prank is over, I moved the new interface link to the bottom of the page, right next to the "Browse website without images" link.
Woo hoo! I still want the ability to ppost through that infterface tho... <.<
I agree, a fully functional command line mode would be really awesome <3
(read/send PMs, post, ...)
it would be useless XD

Yeah
@Juju should add that when all his other projects are done :P

This
Eh, you never know... :P
Inb4 the arcade cabinet ends up with wi-fi support and a CW browser
The Wi-Fi worked exactly once, a web browser would be unbearably slow and I don't intend plugging a keyboard in there anyway. Maybe a bluetooth one.
Lol I see XD. In any case you're better off keeping this machine for gaming. :P
