A funny quote from Java installer:

QuoteJava is found everywhere - on mobile phones, desktop computers, Blu-Ray Disc players, set top boxes, and even in your car.

By installing Java, you will be able to experience the power of Java, brought to you by Oracle, Inc.

I think that it should be changed to this:

"Java is found nowhere - not even on desktop computers and definitively not on mobile phones.

By installing Java, you will be able to experience the power of a software that can magically vanish from your computer or uninstall itself at any moment, after it showed you its North Korean influences regarding security filters that can block any third-party Java program from running"

It's been probably 20 years the Java installer states this, sure everything was running some sort of Java back then, I had a flip phone with Java ME on it, but technology sure have changed since then. But you'll be surprised: it's still true, everything still runs Java.

Java is still a very popular language among novice CS students who don't know better (forget about Java applets tho, no one use that anymore), for Blu-Ray disks, it's pretty much in the standard, and for everything else, Android is now very popular for that when it's not an Apple, and guess what? Most applications are written in Java, but with Android own implementation of it. And for all of the above the devices usually use their own, less North Korean permission system.

I was interested in learning Java back then because at some point it became pretty solid and the portability was nice, but then Oracle bought it.

Yeah, Oracle ruined quite a few things by buying Sun. I'd recommend C# instead, it's pretty much Microsoft's own take on Java and it's actually quite nice.

This convo was caused  by me posting a picture to him that I'm not going to post here because it could (and will) be interpreted by some as cheese pizza, basically an explicit loli pic.
