Well, we made a little video to explain it last weekend and it really took off since then :) (Don't ask me who, I'm under NDA, sign up to find out :))

(Fun fact: If you watch GuizDP, you might recognize Jerome in that video xD)

I have like 5 computers in my room cause I've been taught I should carry no less than 5 computers at all times, like a sensible person. They're all more or less cty and probably wouldn't run Crysis.

Main computer:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2,7 GHz
RAM: 14 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
Displays: 19" Samsung SyncMaster 950b CRT 1600x1200 + 27" iMac (mid-2011) 2560x1440
OS: macOS Sierra 10.12

Alt computer:

CPU: Pentium E2220 2,4 GHz
RAM: 2 GB DDR2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2 GB
Display: some 35" Sony TV, 1080p
OS: Arch Linux 4.20 (lol)

Alt alt computer:

Model: Apple //c
Display: either a green monochrome CRT or it's plugged to the above TV

Alt alt alt computer:

Model: Raspberry Pi 3 B+
Display: some 5" 800x480 thing I got off some Chinese site I dunno

Alt alt alt alt computer:

Model: Microsoft Surface RT 1
Does something: no

Hey guys... Wonder what I'm doing these days, other than Zarmina? It's a little project I'm involved with some friends that I'm working on since a little more than a year, basically it's a matching service for podcasters and Youtubers to find entrepreneurs who would want to put some ads on your content and make some money with that :) We wanted it to be very organic: you decide of what kind of ad space you want to give out, like a mention at the beginning of your video and many Youtubers are already doing, we make sure the people we match are related to each other (as in, we'd match food brands with food podcasters and gaming sites with gaming youtubers) and we hope these ads will be less annoying this way.

Anyway, check it out and I hope you'll like it! We're concentrating our efforts mostly in the province of Quebec, Canada for now, but if it gets popular there we might branch out worlwide ^_^

(Been a while I teased you with that, it's time to make a topic about that, I just waited until it gets usable before writing about it.)

(also ID 2500 ^_^)

That's pretty cool :D

Just like the GB, the graphics driver probably isn't the same as on the 84+CE, and it would have to support any instruction the SMS/GG have the calc don't support natively, but other than that, that's not a crazy idea.

On that, a lot of old computers (mostly CP/M based) also uses a Z80, I'd like to see CP/M ported on the 84+ as an OS.

I'd suggest a language made for IF and text adventures like Inform 7 I think it's going to be the best. Nice learning curve, easy to do whatever needed in a standard IF game and it mostly looks like English.

Yeah, it's pretty low resolution and the screen I have for it is monochrome, but I'd like to see something like the Bad Apple MV running on it.

But I wonder if I plug a modern computer in high resolution, it'd be surprisingly legible?

Updates!

- While the new server on Dyjix have more RAM and storage than the current one for the same price, the old one on DigitalOcean is still more stable, so I prefer not moving out until the upgrade Dyjix is planning is done. The Minecraft server don't need much stability so far as we're on ask-an-admin-if-crashed basis for that, but it does need the RAM, so we're paying for both for the time being.

- I realized calc.news needs way more storage than I thought it would for media attachments (it's about 80 GB so far! The fediverse is pretty big), so I'm moving these media to Wasabi. It's compatible with Amazon S3 and DigitalOcean Spaces and it's way cheaper than those. We also use DO Spaces for CW backups and it's likely to move to Wasabi as well in the future, it's pretty much the same price for the first 250 GB, as in $5/month. Except we can go up to 1 TB with that $5 on Wasabi. Note that I'm talking about object storage, not the same as a VPS so you still need one to run stuff on. Anyway, calc.news is likely to crash a lot until the move is complete, so hold on your horses if you're using it.

- I still can afford for all that for the forseeable future with my job and my mom's, no worries so far, but if you want to throw some money at my Patreon account, that would be pretty helpful. That would make the servers and storage a bit more affordable and also fund development of Zarmina, I planned some big stuff with that... (Printed copies for sale? Maybe??? Who knows?)

So this is my little roundup on what's going on so far, have a great post-holidays :)

It's a DVD player >.> I like the trail it leaves behind, though.

But yeah, that's what my friend told me about today, sound should be pretty good.

PC, Mac & Vintage Computers / Apple II thread
January 07, 2019, 06:51:26 AM
My brother cleaned his room and this thing ended up on my desk.

It's an Apple IIc, complete with a green monochrome screen, a printer and a bunch of floppies. (Yes, the screen is actually plugged to a DVD player, but I'm surprised how watchable my DVDs are on that :P)

Todo list:

- Learn Applesoft BASIC (I did a circle wow)
- Build a serial cable for communication and ADTPro. I contacted the guy who maintains ADTPro and sells those cables and shipping is prohibitively expensive (as usual) so better make my own, so more updates on that soon.
- Watch some DVDs
- Figure out what's going on with the floppy drive?
- Try this thing out, if and when it's gonna come out. A friend of mine is planning to back their Kickstarter thing when they're going around to make it, so yeah, we're planning to have some fun with that.

So yeah. @Caleb Hansberry I know you like this, so Apple II thread.

Ah yeah, back when golfing your code was actually useful, I love little tricks like this.

C allows for a lot of neat stuff like doing stuff on a float as if it was an int.
