Ok so haven't really shown my VJ apps on here before, although they have always been on my website. There are two ;)

The first tries to generate live visuals in response to the music. It only works with certain types of music :( , but is not too bad. Here is the page ------ >
http://futurerave.uk/imager.php
It is currently a free download (and although it just says 'supports windows 10', supports backwards to XP as well)
here is a pic of it working.... you might need to play with your soundcard mixer settings (the record settings - even though this program doesn't actually record audio, but it does capture it)

*EDIT*
Forgot to add my second VJ program - this one is just for displaying text on the screen - but it could be pretty useful for a VJ, or a promoter, or a DJ! It was made in response to a 'how do I do this' thread on a music/dj forum. Again, a free download....... page here ----------->>>>

ALSO here is a video of the Imager app..

Interesting. You should add in the topic title  that it's for audio, for more exposure. I didn't notice this until now. I'll check it out this weekend or monday.

8) Well @Juju , I will help as much as I can. Did you get the .exe to run? I can't remember (you had errors?). There is a new build up there now so try downloading that.

If the exe runs but no nice graphics... then..... look at the following.

- press the plus symbol - this will give you debug graphs, however, these may be blank, such as the following.....

(You should have music playing on your PC) - the black top two sections show the program has no audio being captured, that it can work with. This normally means you have to change your sound card settings, to capture from say 'Stereo Mix' instead of 'Line In'

Then you should get the full experience :D  ......... which looks like this in the debug window - those little curve shapes are kick drums. Yay!! Good luck juju :)

Thanks

I perform an FFT to split the music into 512 frequency bins, and analyse the bottom 8 of those to detect kick drums. As my website says, the program works best with hardcore music, and only looks for 4/4 kick drum patterns.

Like I said, you probably need to change your soundcard settings.

Well, it might be a problem with DirectSound audio capture not working correctly because it is on a virtual machine.

Can you record the audio that is currently playing (ie. in Audacity or Soundforge) ? That would be key information
