Although the file download archives normally only include files posted by the author, we decided to start including lists of useful tools in this section as well because many people seems to be unaware of the existence of many tools and I thought they might find this handy. But to avoid clutter, those software lists will only include softwares for recent calculator models and omit outdated material (older emulators are listed at ticalc.org). It will also only include softwares for which binaries are available, since this list is aimed at a mainstream audience rather than only experienced users.

First of all, I'll start with calculator emulation, but we will not provide ROM files or links. Some emulators, such as for the HP Prime, do not require a ROM, though, and others, such as for 68K models, will sometimes run with just an OS file from TI website. For emulators that requires a ROM, ROMs can be acquired from your calculator using ROM dumping softwares such as ROM8x for the TI-83+/84+/CSE and CEmu for the TI-84 Plus CE.

For TI emulators or simulators that requires purchasing a subscription or a license we are linking to TI-Planet instead of TI website, due to Texas Instruments' inability to keep download links working after a few years.

* https://tiplanet.org/pad_ti68k_emu/ is a much improved version of PatrickD's v11 (which already had several contributions of mine): this one supports all TI-68k models, has more features and fewer bugs :)

* indeed, kArmTI is outdated closed-source software with inferior emulation accuracy.

Thanks for the link. Also I hope to see binaries of CSE TilEm for Windows at some point, so I can link to them.

I also forgot if there is an Android version of Firebird Emu?

I think there is, I know there's an iOS skin at least.

Firebird runs everywhere where Qt is supported and mmap/VirtualAlloc is available, so Android, BSDs, iOS, Linux, OS X, Windows...
It's also not a "TI Nspire CX" emulator, it also emulates classic calcs (Although I don't expect anyone to use that...)

For the trial list, I guess that's going to be only the manufacturer's official things?
So... TINCS, TI-SmartView and Casio Classpad Manager (and wahtever the prizm software is?)

Edit: technically, kArmTI isn't outdated, since IIRC it's based on the latest nspire_emu (which is old but doesn't get new versions since Firebird is its logical successor) and gets updated from time to time... But yeah, its emulation accuracy is not as good as Firebird.

Yeah, trial softwares will be official links to the free (limited) versions of the manufacturers official softwares.

That means the ones you mentioned. I need to find the actual links, though. And yeah I included KarmTI because while it's not as accurate as Firebird Emu, it's nowhere as outdated as Virtual TI.

That reminds me, I also need to include Android and iOS emulators.

Yeah. I know about BluStacks and a few others-adding them to the list is a good idea.

It depends if they are up to date though. If they are as incompatible as Virtual TI or worse than TI-Smartview, then I might not add them, since I want to make it easy for users and visitors to find something reliable fast and not force them to search through the list. However, what I could do is put them inside spoiler tags.

Also, community emulators in the list must not have the ROM built-in nor available on the server. It has to require the user to provide his own (we tolerate Bootfree-compatible emulators, although we won't tell how to get a ROM in another way than from the real calculator)

EDIT: Updated list!

-Added the Android and Mac versions of KarmTI (although Firebird emu is still recommended for the aforementioned reasons, and it's multi-platform anyway)
-Added z80e to monochrome z80 section
-Added list of paid trial software, but no link available yet.

It's based on nspire_emu 0.50 or 0.60, while the latest version available was 0.71 IIRC.

Yeah I wasn't sure which one it used. From Adriweb's comment, I thought it was already updated to 0.70 or something. But even then, the last update to KarmTI was in September (according to the Omni thread), and OS 4.2 came out just recently.

Hm, I thought it got updated to some more recent nspire_emu. Oh well, if using 0.50 or 0.60, then yeah, it's worse than I thought. The things he improved are on the GUI side, not the core, AFAICS.
(Also, I didn't know about 0.71, I though 0.70 was the latest :P)

@Dudeman313: it's $20 btw.

SpiroH's software is increasingly trailing behind Firebird in terms of features and accuracy, and the choice of a proprietary license is making it hard for him to catch up with the GPL'ed Firebird.
