I'm currently using a crappy dell inspiron with intel core i3 and 4gb RAM. It can hardly run Chrome and microsoft word at the same time. I also use a kindle paperwhite to post here, its the U-N-I edition. (fake edition)

Solution: Use a lightweight browser.

Safari is pretty good. If you want to go super lightweight, theres Surf: http://surf.suckless.org.

I use Opera. I found that it runs a lot better than Chrome, but I have a small suspicion that it is placebo since Opera and Chrome are both based on Chromium

No,Chrome is the best. I will not switch. I don't like safari, and opra, well, I've tried it and the ui is weird.

Yeah but Chrome is very known for it's ram/cache usage... like 20 processes.

The FX 8350 and R9 270X i've ordered are going to be delivered tomorrow :D %exited
I wonder how well my particle system does on it
Wait did you buy two graphic cards? Is it because you have two monitors or are you planning to use them on different computers?

EDIT: Wait nevermind, I am stupid. The first is a computer, not a graphic card :P. Are those higher end?
The first is a cpu and the second is a gpu :)

Oooh *excitement*. I have the 8350 and you need a decent cooler but its well worth it. It hardly gets over 20% load.
Currently i plan to use the stock cooler that comes shipped with it

Get a better cooler if you want it not to turn into a ball of melted metal. Or under clock it to 3.6ghz. Maybe even 3.8 if you are feeling adventurous.

Yeah it's really loud, i think i'll get a better one soon. Though my money is kinda gone now :s. know any good coolers for around 25€? (i don't plan to overclock)

I'm a bit of a corsair fanboy but coolermasters are good too. Go to pcpartpicker and they'll show you ratings and prices and stuff.

i've read about the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO. it's about 30 euro's and seems like a good one

Lol my main PC is a Dell Inspirion too. It has 4GB of RAM too and an Intel Core i3 but it just runs fine, even when having 30 Google Chrome Tabs open while having Lubuntu run in Virtual Box and Putty and WinSCP and VNC and Visual Studio 2010 Pro open.
This is a rather standard amount of open stuff for me.
I normally just put it into standby and it just works fine for me.

I do have two other desktop computers, both from Dell.
The first one has and Core 2 Duo and 4 GB of RAM and is so slow that is hurts.

The other one is a fully overpowered workstation with 8GB of RAM, two physical Intel Xeon Processors running each at (I guess it was 2.4GHZ but I can be wrong) and a good graphics card. It is a real great PC, but as I didn't found a place in my room for it, I put it into a room upstairs and I am not using it as I'm to lazy to walk upstairs to use it.

I also have three Raspberry Pi's, one Beagle Bone Black, one ZipIt Z2, one Motorola Moto G2, one hacked Linux WLAN router, one TI-84+ and one unfinished homemade z80.

These are all my PCs (note that all of them were used when I got them except for the following: the BeagleBone, the Pi's, the z80s (Calc + Chips), the Motorola and the ZipIt Z2).

Opera used to use its own engine, Presto, and had some unique features. When version 15 came out they ditched Presto and went with Chromium engine, ditched many staple features but kept an UI and other features similar to old Opera, which is why the UI might look a bit special to people used to Chrome and Firefox.

I like Chrome because it's pretty much the latest advancements in HTML5 technology, although I'd like a browser that don't require 8 GB of RAM and an octocore Xeon CPU just to get on Facebook.

I hate the theme platform though. The HTML/CSS compatibility is really nice but the theme platform is almost literally just a change in background. I wish that they had something like the steam one. Its super awesome because you can change everything.
