Watch out before deleting bot accounts! (risks of false positives)

The other day, Netham45 signed up but his account landed on the spam account page, with a yellow icon because it could not be checked. Also, sometimes, accounts will have a blacklisted IP, but their email won't be. In some cases, the last time a blacklisted IP matched a spam account will date back several months ago, which implies that it is not 100% guaranteed to be a spam IP anymore (especially with rotating IPs).

This is why before deleting accounts you should make sure that it's not a false positive. To check this, click the red icon next to the nickname in the approval page. For example, this account: http://codewalr.us/index.php?action=profile;u=156 http://www.stopforumspam.com/search?q=204.44.92.60 only matches 1 from July 2014. I am thinking that we should approve such accounts anyway in case it was a legit user, and if the user spams, then at least it will just be 1 account spamming rather than losing a potential good user.

Also, if the icon is yellow it means the Spam db was down when the person registered.

Also note that SFS does not support IPv6, so users will automatically be marked as suspect (yellow icon).

Nah because his account is intact. SFS just spazzed out while he was singing up.

Btw what should we do about actual spam accounts? Should we delete them like I did on Omni back then? Right now I didn't do it with the three first bots because it's not part of my job, but the 4th bot was deleted. I think that deleting the accounts and letting IP bans expire after half a year would remove much clutter. But we should probably not delete any real user account unless it's a duplicate.
