Right now I'm using a battle-scarred Acer Chromebook R13 as my main driver. I bought it on a whim because my stuff tends to regularly blow up and my Debian laptop tried my patience one too many times. It proved to be both resilient and surprisingly versatile, especially since crostini and its Debian containers became available on it. It punches way above its weight for a fanless, quad-core ARM64, 13-inch laptop with 12 hours of battery.

My normal computer is a Ryzen 1800X with 32 GiB of RAM, 512 GB of SSD and a 1440p display, used as a beefy programming workstation. Like its owner, it's very effective at its job yet tends to crash every so often. I haven't booted it up in weeks because my Chromebook gets the job done and can sit on my lap.

I also have a bunch of other computers, but nothing really noteworthy nor recently used.

Not really my computers, but I do co-maintain a 5-rack datacenter at my job among other things. Our latest acquisition is a Dell PowerEdge R7425 with 64 cores, 192 GiB of RAM and 3x 2 TiB SSDs, soon to be used as a build machine. It's ludicrously powerful, especially since I've banned VMs on it and decreed only Docker containers shall be used. Being able to automatically invoke pristine Jenkins worker containers on-demand on it is just icing on the cake.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz 6-Core @3.75GHz
8GB DDR4-3000 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
MSI B350M MORTAR Micro ATX AM4
250GB SSD
1TB HDD

I built this in March 2018, was going for a mid-range build that could do heavier processing tasks and gaming than my ageing laptops could do. The case is a Fractal Design Focus G Mini (Black). This was during the time graphics cards and RAM prices were high up there, thought about a 1050TI, but am glad I went with the 1060.

My current phone is a Huawei Honor 10, also bought last year (mid-range version of the P20)

Damn, that's a lot of RAM. I rarely use more than 10 GB at once (Minecraft with high-res textures and shader packs). I think my mobo only supports up to 16 GB too. I really needed to upgrade my GPU if I wanted to play new games higher than medium settings.

Hehe, indeed. I am actually using this much on a regular basis and might even consider upgrading one last time to 32 GB at some point.
For me, primarily the web browser's memory management gets less efficient the more RAM is available. The same amount of tabs open will inflate RAM more now.
I tend to keep various CAD programs open at the same time, while developing electronics, along said browser. This will also eat up quite a lot of RAM.
My graphics card is really quite basic compared to yours ;)
But for me, it's more than enough to play Minecraft well. I don't tend to play a lot on PC (primarily on console) so it doesn't matter much to me.

And I actually ended up doing that. It's now fully maxed out and runs great.

On a side note I have the impression that in the last decade, processors did not increase that much in power. I mean, for most new games my PC doesn't meet the minimum CPU requirements, yet I can still run them without stuttering unless I setup everything to maximum (even then, sometimes stuttering is minimal). Of course, GPU and SSD plays a big factor now with out fast games run and how fast my PC loads, but I still find it incredible that I can stick with a decade old PC and still have no problem gaming and browsing heavy websites.

I just wish I had more money last year so I could have gone with a larger SSD or a second SSD.

If you're talking about raw CPU speed, Moore's Law kind of doesn't apply anymore, it kind of plateaued around 4 GHz, nowadays they're adding more and more of cores on the same chip, and improving GPUs and hard disk speed.

Yeah, when I went to college in 2003-04, teachers were talking about how in a few years, they would reach the absolute minimum possible size for a transistor and that CPU's would start increasing in size (as in how much physical space it takes inside the computer case)

The Chemnitz University of Technology gifted me an old laptop last year (a Toshiba Satellite Pro),
because it was way faster than my old ThinkPad T400....
The battery is unusable since one full battery charge lasts for 4 minutes. For this reason, I have set it up as a stationary computer.
It doesn´t have an internal hard disk since I´m booting from my Linux USB stick only.  (-_(//));
Some keys on the keyboard don´t react when pressed, so I have to use an external keyboard.
It has 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core i3 CPU.
Sometimes, when I run computationally intensive tasks on it, everything just freezes for approx. 30 seconds - 5 minutes.
I don´t know whether this is caused by the hardware or by systemd  :blah:
