Drawing & Animation / Help us place some art on r/place!
April 03, 2017, 11:10:05 AM
As some of you might know, Reddit's April's fools prank is a giant pixel art sheet that any Reddit account older than March31 can place pixels on every 5 minutes. As we are an art community, why don't we bundle our forces and help some art projects there out?
Let's help r/foxes place a fox first! Maybe after that we can place Walrii somewhere!

EDIT: r/place is dead, the fox stood at least briefly

Web / Re: Remembering back when web design standards did not suck

I think the biggest problem the web-dev area has currently is that it is changing too fast, so if you learn something new now you know that it will be already obsolete next year.

Or are you talking about the PC? That case is empty, i think. Maybe it has a mobo in it, not sure.

Note: Just read the spoiler, it's not spoilering
I haven't watched starwars in 4 or 5 years, so I probably haven't seen the movies this one is supposed to play in in between as well
the movies between which it takes place is the one released in 1977 and the one released in 2005. So you have likely seen them both.

Other / What got you into programming and why do you enjoy it?
March 13, 2017, 10:59:46 PM
So there was this little thing on IRC
So, what got you into programming and why do you enjoy it? ^.^
For me personally I was already fastinated way back with the programming stuff my brother could do, so naturally I had to try out once we got the TI-84+ in school. Because, well, it gave an easy opportunity to start. Prior to that I already did some simple HTML/CSS things, but, well, that's not programming
Anyhow, I somehow sticked to programming, kept on making new stuff.
So, what do I enjoy about it these days? It's the awesome puzzle-solving, trying to think of flexible solutions for your problems. Solutions that would also work in other cases that the original issue didn't have but might help in the future, such things are just awesomely fun. Then there is also the joy of creating something other people use / find useful / entertaining, so there is no holding back for me in terms of programming
Quote23:50 <+l|> <p4nix> Programming is like hell
23:50 <+l|> <p4nix> Sounds cool
23:50 <Sorunome> yes, only worse
23:51 <+l|> <p4nix> But actually, its hard
23:51 <Sorunome> because in hell you have all the time you want
23:51 <Sorunome> with programming you have time limits
23:51 <+l|> <p4nix> Soru
23:51 <+l|> <p4nix> Dont let pressure last on you
23:51 <+I|> <DarkestEx> git pushed
23:51 <+I|> <DarkestEx> and synced
23:51 <Sorunome> that is why i enjoy programming, i secretly torture myself all the time
23:51 <+l|> <p4nix> You are still young
23:51 <+l|> <p4nix> Bdsm ftw
So, what got you into programming and why do you enjoy it? ^.^

General Help / Re: I need help with ELF
March 08, 2017, 06:57:34 PMQuote from: Streetwalrus on March 08, 2017, 06:52:46 PMWe just talked about this on IRC a bit, DarkestEx is using 32-bit embedded ARM.
Strip will remove debugging symbols (gcc includes some by default even when you don't compile with -g). What you want is not removing symbols but actual sections. I don't really know how to do that but a possible approach would be to replace the beginning of the main function with a jump to another function that you would add.
Those things have at the beginning a vectortable where the first 4-byte entry is the address to load into pc upon startup, so he could modify that.
