My main computer is on macOS 10.12, the rest usually runs Arch Linux. I have a few WinXP VMs running I can work with, but nowadays, I mostly use them to play Solitaire.

My real answers are Gentoo and Debian unstable, with a couple other minor unices in there.

So anyway yeah I have been using XP for a while now, it has not been supported on windows update for some time now, but i put up with that, but now it looks like the updates for Microsoft Security Essentials (MS' antivirus/antimalware suite) are being cancelled. I don't think I can put up with that. So I will probably be upgrading to windows 10 soon.

*edit*
If you are wondering why I have been using XP, one of the main reasons is so I can play some older games (specifically the MechCommander and MechWarrior series). I am going to be keeping my XP drive in its current state so I can revisit them  :D

I owned mostly every version of Windows (3.1, 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1) at one point or another, except Windows 10 for some reason. Either the free upgrade completely failed or I stopped owning a computer that supported a recent version of windows.

@Juju what OS did your last school library, main lab and secondary lab (that one room with older computers from TIM class) use during your last time there? And what about your university and the other schools before?
u/Yuki April 05, 2017, 05:15:37 AM
For school, let's see...

1996-2001: some sort of DOS
1996ish-2003: Windows 95/98
2002-2013: Windows XP
2010-probably forever: Windows 7
2007-2014: Various Linux distros students installed on school computers
2014-2016: Mac OS X

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if some Quebec elementary schools still used Windows 98.

I'm using Ubuntu with heavy modifications (OSSv4, Jwm, Upstart) as my main OS.

Before that, i was using Windows XP but then i became victim of a rattler so i decided to make the switch. :<

I use windows 10 and the UI is much neater, but I wish that microsoft would release dx 12 for windows 7 cause win 7 allows for much greater control over privacy features and the like. Also I hate all the random windows apps that are installed on my computer like "get office." Thanks microsoft.

You always have Vulkan on Windows 7. That's why Star Citizen switched to Vulkan instead of DX12 even on Windows.
