So I decided to remake one of my songs using Houston Tracker 2 by @utz and it's One Axe to Save us All that is receiving the chiptunes treatment:

https://soundcloud.com/djomnimaga/ht2oneaxeintro

The end of the intro is completely messed up but I'll fix it lol. I don't know if I'll finish the entire track but it will most likely have most of the first verse and chorus.

UPDATE: Song is finally complete! Here is the final version at https://soundcloud.com/djomnimaga/one-axe-to-save-us-all-8-bit-cover  :walrii:

Sounds pretty awesome so far, I'm impressed with the complexity of the sound HT2 can pull off.

Dream of Omnimaga

Yeah, even moreso that it runs on 6 MHz. Most quad channel engines only supported 15 MHz calcs before, IIRC. It's really an amazing feat, and to think utz said the engine could be better... imagine how much better it would sound if he rewrote it. As it is now it's really great, though. We can do some Mega-Man style material.

Well I know that utz has a lot of experience with 1 bit music, especially on the ZX Spectrum. This sounds a lot more detailed than what he did on that, and it's normal since the calcs are faster than the Speccy.

What would be cool is if those music routines could be used in real-time as Axiom. However, the fact that most new calcs no longer have a link port might cause this feature's audience to be nearly non-existent. After all, I think there are about 3 calculator games with full music out there (other than TI-Boy SE).

EDIT: Update: By the way, this song will actually be two Houstontracker 2 save files playing one after each others, because I have just hit the 64 note sequence limit. (There cannot be a sequence higher than 3F (63)

EDIT 2: Wait, nevermind, I thought that this applied to both notes and drum loops, not just drums. False alarm.

GOOD NEWS: The song is finally complete! Here is the final version at https://soundcloud.com/djomnimaga/one-axe-to-save-us-all-8-bit-cover

You'll notice that I also fixed the pitch so that it's the same as the original.

@utz you are free to use this as example song by the way (just link to this thread I guess). Let me know how you would prefer the song format and how to send it to you. :)
