Did you know that the current https://www.ticalc.org webpage design dates all the way back to August 12th 1999?

While some new sections were added and others removed over the last two decades, the layout has essentially remained the same. Here is a cached front page from 2000: http://web.archive.org/web/20000621002029/http://www.ticalc.org/

Yeah it's essentially been the same for 2 decades - for an active website it's sure to be close to a record!

It looks really usable here from my backup phone (an iPhone SE), probably wouldn't need much tweaking to work with a responsive viewport either.

It's funny how since responsive web design has been a major thing (ever since 2012ish) that websites have actually become harder to use on a phone than in the past (and desktop versions fare not much better either).

Yeah considering the current desing is now two decades old and was never modified to be responsive, it's quite a feat. And yeah I agree about websites being harder to use on phones. What I hate is for example on Soundcloud where many options are missing from the mobile version of the website.

On the other hand, I also hate when websites forces you to download an app to browse them on mobile.

Reddit. Much of the time I avoid it whenever at all possible purely since it forces you to use the app on about 75-80% of the time you click anywhere on the mobile version.

It's just amusing that the technology to make a website fit better with a certain screen size is so poorly implemented almost every time it is executed, that they may as well not have bothered now... gotta love having an iPhone SE and living in Europe - being unable to dismiss the absurd cookie banners without scrolling and zooming like a lunatic is 'fun' indeed.

Yeah I hate when websites won't save your choice of not using the app in cookies. Or websites that offers promotions or signing up to newsletter on every single page click.
