While browsing around on itch.io today, I ran across this gem: https://kingpenguin.itch.io/ladybug
I highly recommend you give it a go, it's super fun.
It is super-fun! I gave it a go, as you suggested.
I might make a first-level playthrough video if I find time. :)
That looks fun to play but hard O.O (you run into an enemy every second, according to the animation in the page)
It depends on how fast you play. It's not really that fast paced, only if you have a fast computer and you are playing like an expert.
EDIT: Here's a video I made that explains. :)

Wait
@Dudeman313 do you mean the game speed is dependent on your computer speed?
Sort of. It varies a little, but is generally the same speed everywhere.
That video shows the speed on a Windows 10 Pro Lenovo Thinkpad x61s, but it is a bit faster on our school computers.
Try it. :)
Yep I did now and it's quite fun, but the controls to climb walls are a bit akward to get used to. It might be because I tried playing on a keyboard, though. I also laughed when the enemies started killing each others. :P
I enjoyed it, but I can't get past the (third?) level, the one with the lighting zappers.
It must be a later level because I swear I reached level 4 and did not encounter those. I'll check again later, though.
Would this game be feasible for the 84+CE?

Probably, the men are just turrets that doesn't move, so you would just need bullets and some physics. Maybe I'll attempt this... :P

It is fun, but you can use Z or C for crouching/climbing based on preference.

The one you have to crouch jump? If it's that, my video shows most of it.

I'd like to see the outcome. It seems like the perfect kind of thing to port, and you might be able to use part of Crystann to do it.
I actually have since gotten past that, I'm on the 5th level now :)

What about Portal Returns engine?
Oh yeah! That too. Probably better to use that.
Except for the fact that portal returns is in ASM. Though mateo did make a way to change tiles..
Oh, I forgot it was in ASM. I always assume that CE games are in C, but then I forget that many of the older games are ports of ASM games for the CSE.
Else, there is always the solution of using TI-BASIC or hybrid TI-BASIC but the game would need to be altered significantly.
Oh yeah. Very significantly.

Yeah, that is an easy mistake to make...
I bet re-creating something like this wouldn't be so hard, you just need a physics engine... And oh yeah, in later levels the guys move around O.O
Yeah true. That said nothing stops the programmer from modifying the game a bit to get around the engine limitations :)

They do?? O.O
I haven' t played in quite some time. I also wish that the game saved which level you were on, or had some sort of checkpoint.
Yeah, it is anoying, but once you beat a level 2-3 times you get the hang of things.
Yeah. I think the highest level I've gotten to is either 6 or 7 though. I need to find time to play it again.
