I'm planning on making a prank on my family and make it look like the house has been turned into a Star Trek space ship in outer space. My plan is to cover all the windows in the house with computer screens showing outer space. Which type of screen is best for this? LCD or AMOLED?

Outer space is very black(in fact, it has no color), so I'd use AMOLED for that due to the contrast.
Leaves me to wonder when you won the jackpot, cause covering every window in the house is not going to be cheap.

Plasma screens are also capable of deep blacks, and the OLED TV at my house is remarkably pitiful in contrast. It all varies by manufacturer, but it's going to cost a LOT of money.

That will be one hell of an expensive prank, that's for sure. Just a 32 inch LCD TV still costs $200+. It's most likely doable, though, but in your city it rains and snows a lot, so I'm unsure if it's a good idea. With all the protection you'll need against weather your parents will notice from outside anyway. And placing them indoors won't work, since they most likely won't fit well enough to not be noticed.

That's unless there exists very thin screens that could be placed indoors between two window panels without noticing. I'm not familiar with new screen technology. This could be done just for decoration purposes, though, such as your bedroom. like in Back to the Future 2, but even then, the screen might require to be very large, especially if you live in a rustbelt-style row house. You would also need to ensure that your city laws allow obstructed windows, but considering how many boarded up buildings there are in Far Rockaway (I checked on Google Map once) I doubt they care.

I'm not planning to buy the screens. I'm planning to make the screens from scratch. So I don't think I need to spend a penny on this prank.

Okay, that's enough. We do not need topics like this in here; this subforum is for serious question. Locked until further notice.
