Server upgrade, time to reboot. :P I'm gonna do it sometime today around 20:00 UTC, should be only a couple minutes of downtime at most so don't panic. IRC channels are still available in the meantime if you need them.
UPDATE (by DJ): The server reboot by Streetwalrus went on smoothly.
Them load averages... I still wonder what SMF mod added those, because it would be pretty neat to have. (Not that it has really been a problem here, though)
Let us know if the reboot has to be postponed and also backup first in case :P
So yeah, the reboot went pretty smoothly besides omnom/wirc needing a little nudge to restart but it only took a few minutes. ^.^
Awesome :D
Hopefully no issue arises. What did you have to update, btw?
The kernel and systemd (process manager). Both require a reboot to apply the update.
Also it seems that walrified is down because of the reboot, we'll have to wait for Juju to fix it.
It works now :P
Also I didn' t know Linux stuff ever required reboots :P, considering how Windows almost requires rebooting just to save a text file with Notepad :P
Nah barely anything requires a reboot on Linux, these are basically the only two things that do.
Ah ok phew. I was worried that Linux was becoming a bit like Windows on that point. :P
Well it depends on the distro.
/me glares at Ubuntu and Fedora
Ah right. Oh well at least it's not too frequent. I can't imagine if you guys ran IIS on this server. >.<
While were talking about linux... gnome3 *shivers*
What about it? ???
Everyone hates Gnome 3.
Oh OK but I wonder why? I don't know much about it so I am just curious :P
Heavy, cliunky, devoid of any features on the first 3.x versions, starting to clone Unity, these are reasons people usually use when looking down on GNOME 3. Myself prefer XFCE or GNOME CLassic SHell. I should try Cinnamon as IIRC they're trying to make a what-if Gnome 2 were developped instead of being scrapped.
It doesn't even have a desktop .-.
Hmmm, I used Mate for a while and it was great (that's a GNOME2 fork, GNOME2 rocked back then).
