Remember Desert Bus for the Sega CD, where you had to drive a bus in straight line for 8 hours from Tucson, AZ, to Las Vegas? Well, there is now a sequel and it's called Desert Bus II: I Am a Tree!

Here's a video of the game in action here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=OMsozoE35u8

In this sequel, your bus crashed into a tree and you must wait for the towing company to arrive. However you are tired, it's 110°F and the towing truck won't arrive until at least 8 hours. So you must try to stay awake to drink water until it arrives, while staring at the accident scene, else you will die of dehydration.

Here is now a download attached below! I am using Sprites BASIC library by grosged, by the way.

On a side note, I forgot to mention that this game uses Sprites BASIC library by @grosged . The entire bus scene is drawn with rectangles but I might replace the tree and bus with actual sprites if I can find time to make some.

Feel free to do it. With original Desert Bus and even Crazybus sprites it would be even better. For which platform?

I should check if I can add that overhydrating thing to my game. I might make it so you become blind due to staring at the sun for too long if you move your head too high. :P

Also after 5-6 hours I might make it so a :walrii: crosses the screen.

I like the fire animations :D. Also I wonder if you plan to upload this somewhere like a post or something? Because when I put this in the downloads section I'll probably put both download links in the first post.

Also my version is nearly done:

And just to tell you why I won't add your graphics to my version, both Walrii frames increased the program size by 1246 bytes including the palette :P

Actually, your game has a lot of charm as it is. I like the rectangle look :) . I just tried to push the limits of how detailed I could make my graphics with 4 colors :P .

And I'll upload this in a post when I feel like there's enough implemented for it to be playable (i.e. winning after 8 hours, and a debug mode so I can get through quickly (not telling you what will trigger it ;) ) ). I do plan to have a point system, though, as well as that walrii thingy. Not exactly sure whether or not I should make it some 8x8 sprite, a 16x16 version, or the full 24x24, because the game runs at ~14FPS as it stands :P

Actually, the rectangular graphics were because I was too lazy to find actual sprites to make the game look similar to the original. But it helps keeping the file size down.

Also I have done the readme now. I'll make new screenshots soon to put the game in the first post. I am not sure if it will go on ticalc.org and others, though, since I try to keep my files there above a certain quality. :P

How's your grayscale on-calc, by the way?

EDIT: Download link available in first post or at https://codewalr.us/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1362.0;attach=1020  :)
