Well I made this stuff as my profile.

New version with lots of bloom.

Hopefully I'll add an animal at some point.

He he, nice art. I just wonder why the grass is blurry when the zebra isn't though.

Yup it looks pretty cool. I like both the bloom and bloomless version. :)

CKH4

Eiyeron what's blurry about the grass?

So I'm planning to change the bloom from the ground to the sky so that it doesn't look so weird at the horizon line. The clouds are supposed to look sort of like cotton candy. I might also animate it but the shadow will be a pain so I don't know.

I think by blur he really meant noise.

Snektron

The horizon blur doesn't look that weird though

Ohhhh, the grass has noise because I was trying to make it look like some plains. Also I'm going to remove the image for a bit because I found a way to contact the person who made the zebra.

I think that the horizon will look much better with the blue extending down but I'll see which looks better.

I like it. Since I like retro gaming I kinda prefer the first, though. Maybe you could try to mimic NES/SNES style gradients?

EDIT: Maybe like this?

CKH4

That looks really good. So just larger gradient steps?

Yeah or you could maybe try a mix of checkerboards and even greater gradient steps.

Personally I prefer gradient over dithering.

Snektron

Depends, sometime dithering looks better IMO

The right part (gradient) kills the pixel art feeling. Usually pixel art is used in low palette devices (like 4,8,16 cors and so on). adding colors to blend the grass is strange with pixel art. But do as you want.
