Title: [PC] Avions (SEIZURE WARNING!)
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on December 25, 2016, 05:59:54 AM
I made this game in June 2002 and it sucks, but I'm posting it for posterity, in case the only other file archives on which it was hosted ever goes offline. Shoot down the planes by clicking them. The game speed is entirely dependent on your computer speed. This game was made on a Windows 98 300 MHz PC with Visual Basic 6 so it should probably be played on such hardware.

WARNING: This game can cause seizures because of all the flashing, especially the title screen!

LOL, no speed limit or anything.
The game runs way too fast on my AMD FX but considering how my processor is faster than a pentium II,
i'm also surprised by how slow it is lol.

the speed isnt too high at my crappy computer (should I be happy now?) buuut I still suck at the game... ._.
an increasing speed would have been really nice! :D
and yess, the menu screen is terrible to look at   :ninja:

did you add in the code that planes wont spawn at the same Y-axis point as your cursor...?  <_<

From what I recall, I made the planes appear at random locations but I forgot to check if shooting them makes them re-appear at the same location. I no longer have VB6 installed sadly.

EDIT: After playing with a fast mouse clicker program (the only way to make the game playable on this 1st-gen i7 CPU) it looks like respawning works properly.

Btw, one of the worst thing about VB6 is the lack of support for changing resolution. Apparently there are ways to do it but it can cause BSOD's or stuff like that. I don't even know if VB6 supports displaying graphics stretched up based on the page size.

I would have loved to retain access to it for longer (I had no computer at home) but I would definitively have needed to find alternate solutions at one point to make resizable games. Also, the flickering was unbearable anyway
