Gaming / Re: Pokemon Go

So over the weekend i learned that height and weight (as far as XL/XS goes) can change when you evolve a pokemon.  For example, Friday I caught a Pidgey that was XL in both weight and height.  I evolved it into a Pidgeotto, and all of a sudden it's weight became XS.  Then i evolved it into a Pidgeot and neither the XL or XS appeared.  Kind of a let-down, but at least now I can disregard those two factors and just focus on the pokemon's CP when making my team.

I still have my Dratini and Charmander... not too many "exotic" pokemon in the suburbs (at least in my area), and this summer heat has been dreadful, otherwise i'd be going to places and walking more.

Also I heard that finding consoles that still works fully is hard (for example, your game saves were saved on the Sega Saturn itself, but the save content was kept alive with a backup battery like in old NES carts, so if the battery is dead then your saves are gone).

That's why THIS should be the first thing you buy when owning a Sega Saturn

I bought one a year ago, and i own "Bug!", "NightWarriors: Darkstalkers Revenge", "Rayman",  and "Fighters Megamix".  This console is my second favorite (The Sega Genesis being #1).  Got it on eBay and it's been working great ever since.

Well, assuming the most recent rumors are true and that Nintendo still has no plans to replace the 3DS, it seems like they still have not learned from the Wii U failure and loss of third-party support

I'm not surprised their not touching the 3DS.  Between the fact that it's backwards compatible with regular DS cartriges & DSi digital games, the fact that Pokemon Sun & Moon are going to be released for it (which will sell even more units, especially since the release of Pokemon GO, everyone has been infected with Pokemon fever). and the fact that they've been recently pushing their line of SNES games for the NEW3DS, I don't see the 3DS going away any time soon.  Third party support aside, the main issues with both the Wii & WiiU were that they were gimmicky as hell.  They got lucky with the Wii and brought in a cload of casual players with the motion control, but after a while it got annoying and to the point where gamers just want to play their games without having to do other stupid c ontop of it.  Granted, the 3DS has that whole "Gyroscope" c, but i can only think of like a handful games that actually use that (2 of them are part of the built-in software in the console itself), plus the 3D isn't forced... you can turn it off completely and it won't affect the gaming experience.

I wonder if the DS version of Sonic Color is good?

It's not, it's basically Sonic Rush 3, unless that's your thing.

(back then, SOnic games had many glitches, but they did not impair gameplay quality).

It's not a glitch, it's a feature!

For me, once Sonic Adventure came out, it and the games that followed left me with a bad taste in my mouth.  Bad voice acting aside (which half the time i can look past), the controls were what killed it for me with every game.  In regards to SA1 & SA2 I was never fortunate enough to own a Dreamcast so I played the GameCube version of those games.  As for Sonic Heroes & Shadow the Hedgehog, I owned the PS2 version (from what I hear are considered the worst versions). Unleashed Wii wasn't too bad, but once i got to Eggman Land I just gave up after spending an entire day trying to S rank it for the rest of those moon medals and being frustrated with just the general bullc.  My 5th ex had Unleashed for her PS3 and I remeber enjoying that more except for the flying segments.  Colors didn't do anything for me, and i know I'm in the minority of that opinion.  Sonic 06 and Sonic 4 E1&2 are just abysmal.  Generations i enjoyed immensely.

As far as the handhelds go,  I remember enjoying Sonic Advance to a point, even completing the game, it felt like the classics but on the other hand, the level design near the later levels were ass (bottomless pits everywhere).  The 2nd one I only remember playing once cause it was just "blah" and i completely skipped out on the 3rd game.  I gave Rush and Rush and Rush Adventure a chance too but after i finished the main story, I never touched it again.  The "boost to win" mechanic only made me want to play an actual racing game (that didn't have bottomless pits everywhere). Generations on 3DS is just as enjoyable as the regular game.  The only problem is, it looses it's replay ability really fast once you complete every mission and get S rank on everything.  Online mode was saving it for a good while but now it's to the point where nobody goes online in that game anymore.  Last time I played it, i spent over 5 minutes waiting for the game to search for an opponent for me.  Lost World was off to a good start, but then it got to the special stages... yea, great idea Sega, forced gyro controls, nothing I enjoy more than getting dizzy and wanting to puke trying to get all 7 emeralds. [/sarcasm]

1. Might as well rename this thread "New Sonic Games for 2017" or something if we're gonna talk about the other big game.

2. Sonic Mania is pretty much the only motivation I need to learn how to build a gaming PC from scratch (something I've always wanted to do for years) considering I have no interest in owning a XBONE or PS4.

3. The salt that's coming from Modern Sonic fans between these two games is enormous.  A part of me enjoys it considering I grew up with & enjoy the Genesis/MegDrive games more than any other sonic game, yet the other part of me is reminded why I don't call myself a Sonic "fan" anymore  <_<

If Long Island traffic is that bad

I think you misunderstood me... Long Island traffic is actually not as bad as the city traffic or even Queens traffic for that matter.  Long Island is made up of two counties (Nassau & Suffolk, which represents the "body and tail" of the island respectfully). Queens and Brooklyn make up the head of the island but are not considered part of long island but rather part of the 5 Burrows (Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan being the other 3).  What I was insinuating was regardless whether you're getting on or off the island, you're always going to have a difficult time and have half to most of your day spent on the road because of multiple things (congestion, accidents, construction, stupid people, etc...) preventing you from getting to where you gotta go in/out of the island.  If you're coming into long island, once you pass Queens, its smooth sailing the rest of the way cause you have officially entered into Nassau County and Long Island in general.

so apparently someone else tried to make a "2.0" version of the site, but it seems like it went nowhere fast... last post was from 2010 and there was apparently a naming issue since Omnimaga owns the TIMGUL name or something.  Might be worth trying to get a hold of Not A Number to see if you can get it up and running for reals this time.

Oh I see lol. It looks like it must not be that hard to get there, though. :P

If by "must not be that hard to get there" you mean "waiting hours in traffic depending on time and dealing with people that can't drive for c because NY is overpopulated as c", then yes, it's not that hard.

Also our bridges have tolls... have fun with that.

General Music Talk / Re: What are you listening to?
July 22, 2016, 06:43:55 PM
As I'm typing this, I'm at work bored out of my mind so I have a playlist of songs from "Foonmix 1, Plus, & 2" playing on the work computer.  They include songs from Yamajet, Is-m (A.K.A. Parakeet 41), & Cranky.

Media Talk / Re: What series do you watch?
July 22, 2016, 06:24:08 PM
Add me to the "don't watch TV anymore" croud, but I am an avid DVD collector.  Some of the series i have so far are the following...

  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Seasons 1 - 8 (a.k.a. Unit Patrol Squad))
  • Bones (Seasons 1 & 2)
  • CSI Miami (Seasons 1 - 5)
  • DragonballZ (Seasons 1 - 7)
  • Ed, Edd, & Eddy (Seasons 1 & 2)
  • Law & Order (Seasons 1 - 5)
  • Law & Order SVU (Seasons 1 - 9)
  • Rocko's Modern Life (Complete Season)
  • Ren & Stimpy (Complete Season & Adult Party Cartoon Show)
  • The Simpsons (Seasons 1 & 2)
  • Trippin The Rift (Seasons 1 & 2 + Movie)
My list also includes some stand-up comics (Brian Regan, Carlos Mencia, Lewis Black, Frank Caliendo) a few anime movies (Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Battle Arena Toshinden), and all of Homestar Runner's DVDS (Except "Everything Else 3"... which is no longer available on their website store).  Obviously when I have the extra cash I add onto my existing collection (like Archer for example)

Also inb4 "y no NetFlix?" because 1. I don't have an account (nor will I have a need to make one) and 2. I rather have physical copies when it comes to tv shows/movies

No because...

1. I'm "technically" a new member

2. I live on an island, so unless other people on here are on said island my chances of meeting people are limited

Now that I think about it, I don't believe I've met anyone in person on any forum I've ever been apart of (my first forum I ever joined was in 2004)... dunno how I feel about that, lol.
