Hehehehe. I'm still for my original two choices. We could do a random background color of those 4 (or 5) for each refresh, using a script of some sort.
Well, I'm bach here too!

I like both shades of blue actually. I think making it an option should be better though.

I think maybe there could be a custom SMF mod allowing the user to change the board background color via SimplePortal blocks, but only as long as it doesn't use Javascript to replace the site color. I don't want to have multiple copies of the same theme just for having different colors in each one. :P

OK so as compromise I wanted to just combine every color together then calculate the average of them, but the result was almost identical to what we had but more bland. So I decided to do a background containing isometric forms and all the colors, with lower opacity, but it was too distractive and unfitting with the logo.

Would the new square grid background do now? (By the way, the background is only 4.42 KB large and I will need someone to upload the http://codewalr.us/other/codewalrusbg.png image in the theme image directory since I get access denied when trying to do so)

I love it. It's the best of all the colors, and has a nice retro feel.

Do you mean so that it doesn't scroll? The issue with that is that on older phones and computers this will cause lag or mobile browser crashes. (I had this happen on my old Samsung i550 a while back)

Anyway glad you guys like it :D

By the way here were the bg ideas:

That last one wasn't serious, though. <_<

I think the reason why bg 2 through 5 were too distracting and unfitting is because they didn't look pixelated enough.

How did you make these? It looks really cool and mathy (if that makes sense)

For the isometric one I made a pic with 16x16 squares, then rotated it to 45°, but I did not confirm. Instead, I took a printscreen, else confirming applied blur. Then I halved the vertical resolution then copy/pasted the result over and over to give the 3D depth.

Cool! Is this a known isometric spriters trick?

I am unsure, because I doubt many people use Photofiltre studio. They probably have other tricks to do isometric stuff, especially that this trick doesn't work too well with textures.

It's not a background Idea but I thought an iceberg/arctic theme would fit to the "Walrus"  in "CodeWalrus"... THe biggest problem is that using too much pictures will slow down the forum loading...

That could possibly work. I'Ll see what I can do when I make more progress on my HP game. (I contemplated using dynamic backgrounds too and maybe I could have an ice one)
