I stupidly chose 1333 Mhz instead of 1600 ram with my pc q.q

RAM speed barely matters, you might lose an FPS or 2 with 1333MHz.

I built a sort of medium system about 6-months back - FX-8350 octa-core, 16GB RAM, AMD 290X graphics. My old system was about 7 years old (quad core phenom) so this one handles things a fair bit easier :).
Wow what do you need all that RAM for? O.O I myself rarely use more than 5 GB on my 8 GB RAM computer.

As for RAM speed I assume it's only relevant during loading stuff, right?

RAM speed is relevant during pretty much everything, but it's just that it isn't a bottleneck anymore above a certain point. Also, 1600MHz RAM isn't necessarily faster than 1333MHz - timings matter too. This is especially the case with 1600MHz vs 1866MHz.

Dream of Omnimaga

Oh OK thanks for the clarification.  What do you mean by timing though?

RAM clock frequency is linked to how much data per second you can transfer to and from the RAM. For instance, if you have 1600MHz RAMs on 2 64-bit channels, you can transfer up to 25 GB/s. Of course, if you never reach that speed, going to 1866MHz (29 GB/s in the above example) will be pretty negligible. Make sure your CPU supports that, though.

Oh I see. Thabks for the summary and thanks to others too :). I guess I should be fine for now with the RAM I got. :P

I just ordered a 970, the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 4GB (or 3,5GB :) ). It was reduced in price, from €380 to €330, so I just did it.

Snektron

Nice :D. It'd be interesting to see how many particles you can run on it with my particle system :)

You may need to raise the particle limit with the newer cards and processors.

Wow, I  am curious how well it will run newest games at max settings :)

Skyrim at several hundred fps according to my friend.

But Skyrim is from 2011-12 IIRC. What about a big game from 2014 such as a first person shooter and using 4K? :P
