I am making the usual shooter game using the walrii as fighter/shooter sprites.

Pics or it didn't happen. :P

But more seriously I can't wait to see how it looks like. Do you have any plans so far for graphical style and features?

Seems like a good idea  :)
One thing I suggest is incorporating as many sprites as you can. Not only could you have different enemies in different sprites, you could also make more walruses that you can play unlock through things like in-game currency.
Also, what platform are you making this for and what programming language?
Good luck  ;)

Judging from the topic (although I don't think tags show up on IRC all the time), I think it's for Windows or anything that supports vb.net.

I was just about to say something bad about VB.NET, but I decided not to as it was my first programming language that I ever learned when I was 9 years old :D
A few years ago I switched to C#, C and Lua entirely as VB.NET does really not have the best syntax for proper programming.

I generally use the languages I feel the most comfortable with, no matter its efficiency (unless it's unuseable for what I want to do). If I can choose between spending months working on an Illusiat 1 clone in C with full of bugs and horrible code and spending a few weeks working on a slightly slower Illusiat 11 clone in VB.Net with optimized code and no bug, then I would rather choose VB.Net

Of course, I also want people to benefit from my games, though, so nowadays I would probably not use RPG Maker 2003 or VB6, since people would have troubles running my game in OSes newer than XP.

I remeber seeing this topic a while back. I myself would refrain from using VB as it is only runnable on windows afaik <_<

Could Wine run it? I actually don't mind which language is used since I look at what is produced with it rather than what is used to produce stuff, but yeah I agree that portability can be an issue in some cases.

Wine + Mono usually runs VB.NET programs with no modification
As for the status, I ran into a problem known as KSP, and that sapped my productivity for most of winter break.

Oh lol, some community members got addicted to KSP sometimes. :P I remember when aeTIos disappeared from Omnimaga every winter because of it <_<

That and FRC robotics. Protip: If you run a forum, never hire staff consisting of only people participating into FRC robotic competitions. :P
