Title: Walrii boot animation for Android
Post by: novenary on May 24, 2015, 06:04:22 PM
So I made this. It's a theme so it should work on any rom that supports them (probably gonna bitch on install it you're not on 5.x, didn't test older versions so please report, you need 4.4 at least anyway), so CyanogenMod, CyanogenOS and any other rom that has implemented the theme engine (a bunch as it's pretty popular).

APK is attached.

Edit : lol, didn't notice that vid was 42s long.

That's very cool :D. I assume that it won't work on stock Android 5.x, right?

You need root to change the boot animation / it's a cm theme :-\

Well it doesn't need root, but it does require a custom ROM (except for devices that come with cyanogenos).

Yeah you do need root. The bootanimation zip is somewhere in the for not-rooted unreachable area

It's a theme. As long as the rom supports themes you don't need root. ;)

Ah yes, but for stock you'd need root :P

Yeah since it doesn't support themes. :P Stock is kinda like iOS but more customizable. :P

I haven't shut down my phone for 999 hours and 28 minutes.
The battery's great and I only have to recharge every two days or even every week sometimes.
It almost has no standby battery usage.

You use it 24/7, even in the shower on when asleep? O.O

What? I don't get you. I meant that it doesn't take much energy when in standby mode.
And that I don't recharge it often. Also it 1001 hours now :)

Here's an image proof:

Lol I was joking. I kinda figured your phone didn't take too much power in standby mode. I wish it was the same with my Nspire in both standby and deep sleep mode.

Lol I've had over a week of uptime. Some times things get glitchy so I need to reboot. I also need to when I install a new android build or when I mess around.

Motorola Moto G2; Android 5.0.2
You can get to the uptime info like this: Settings -> About device -> Status; and then scroll down

Yeah, I guess so. But actually the stock firmware I'm running is quite stable so no reason to really reboot often.
Also do I still have full warranty so no reason to break it.

I should check out how to make theme apks. Also install a ROM that support themes.

In my case I think I once reached about a month of uptime on Android 4.4.4 because I never ran into issues nor slowdowns. For Android 5.1 it's a different story, though, because after a week or so, my desktop icons list like to reboot when closing apps every now and then, the phone becomes quite warm and I get some slowdowns, so I have to restart after a week or so. Android 4.4.4 was definitively more stable than 5.1.

It's not that hard. All the info and template are available here (https://github.com/cyngn/android_packages_themes_Template).

Yeah 5.1 is really unstable from what i've heard <_<. The 5.1 sdk isn't reallly a wonder either

I'm not having too many issues on 5.1. Been running it almost since it came out.
