First Fantasy II ideas vault

With First Fantasy: Mana Force out, I had many ideas in mind for future First Fantasy series games. However, the big games will come much later if they happen. In the more immediate future, however, I thought it might be nice to re-use parts of the FF engine and convert it for 160x120 sprite-based maps. One idea I had in mind recently was to create another god game where you would be sent from the sky to save the world or at least revive it (Soul Blazer-style but with turn-based battles). I do no...

First Fantasy II: Pokéwalrus (Pokémon-inspired game with 3 vs 3 battles)

So this project is not official yet, but the recent release of  Ricsan's image to grosged Sprite lib data converter might eventually change this. The main challenge of a Pokéwalrus game was the conversion of the sprite sheet, because of how each walrus sprites have different sizes and are not aligned on a grid in the sprite sheet.Anyway, for now, I have 96 sprites out of 150 converted (the next one to convert is the musical note walrus), but they are not scaled up because I have not decided whic...

Pokéwalrus screenshots thread

Note that the tilemapper above will only be used if XCOPY gets ported to the CE, though, else I would need to cut down the amount of walruses in the game from 150 to about 100. In the event where XCOPY wouldn't be ported, I would simply convert First Fantasy II map engine to Sprites v3.3 and use that instead (which would mean larger, but more redundant maps and no scrolling).

First Fantasy CE 2020 update

I am updating this game to take advantage of the CE Textlib rectangle exploit, so now the TI-84+CE gray info bar is gone and some colors were changed. I also managed to remove the gaps inside dungeon walls so now they look like their C Silver Edition counterpart. The game menu now has a border as well. Here is the new version: ...

First Fantasy: Mana Force with actual sprites

Thanks to @Iambian 's new TI-OS custom font routine, a special version of First Fantasy taking advantage of his font hook to display actual sprites is now being worked on:

Mana Force vs FF:MF comparison thread

Click the picture to enlarge the screenshots: To clarify on the screenshot showing battle damage, basically in the original game the damage numbers were animated to do a jump animation like in FF. This was scrapped in the remake to increase battle speed.Among other differences, in the original game, once you beat the final boss, the game ends abruptly, saying the end. There is a New Game + feature like Chrono Trigger, though,...

Nasty Tariffs: Roman Cafe (anagram translation project)

I think it's high-time the First Fantasy game had another version released. So, obviously, what I try to do is anagram the entire text of Final Fantasy: Mana Force into something...perhaps a bit amusing...Some example lines:In a far away dimension, the Mana Crystal was made to seal the Death Kingdom, bringing a long peace to the Land of Hope. Then one day the crystal shattered into pieces, and chaos ensued...=Once upon a time, when the Clans At Army laid peace at the Pond of Heal with the land o...

First Fantasy II, a graphical TI-84+CE RPG using CE Textlib hax

If you noticed that my posting rate have been sporadic in the last few days, it is because I am in the middle of one of my many attempt to achieve hybrid TI-BASIC stuff long before the libs required to do it comes out. -In early 2004, I released several games that would have been better off released one year later using xLIB. (Sorry tr1p1ea )-In late 2004, months before xLIB APP was even considered (sorry again, tr1p1ea ), I got around the lack of it by using Omnicalc Sprite(...

First Fantasy Casio PRIZM [fx-CG10][fx-CG20][BASIC][9860G][9750Gii]

So for a while I was contemplating making a CASIO fx-CG10 and fx-CG20 version of First Fantasy: Mana Force, written in BASIC. While it would not look as good as the CSE/CE hybrid BASIC versions, I can take advantage of the many special characters available on that calculator (even shapes and icons).I don't have much done, but the title screen and half of the intro have been converted so far.Assuming all those characters are available on the 9860G as well, this means the game will be compatible w...

First Fantasy ported to the TI-84 Plus CE and TI-83 Premium CE!

Today comes our first TI-84 Plus CE release. Back in April, I released a remake of my 2002 TI-83+ RPG Mana Force for the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition: First Fantasy: Mana Force . Today, I am proud to release the TI-83 Premium CE and TI-84 Plus CE version! Like the CSE remake, this port features all the enhancements that were added compared to the original monochrome game, ranging...

Mana Force vs First Fantasy boss 6 comparison (WARNING: Spoilers)

This video showcases the 6th boss fight from Mana Force (TI-84+), followed by its First Fantasy: Mana Force (TI-84+CSE) counterpart. In the 2015 color remake of the 2002 game, the boss was replaced with a LV 198 one. Note that Poison magic was not available in the original game. Also the new boss skips his turn when you use MP-healing items.

First Fantasy: Mana Force RPG Color remake! [84+CSE] [hybrid BASIC] [DCSE8]

In May 2002, I released Mana Force for the TI-83+, my first RPG to use an actual tilemap engine. In 2013, it was translated in English and that version received bug fixes and other changes. And now, in 2015, it will finally be in color! Screenshot thread: ...

Original 2002 Mana Force oddities

So I was implementing elemental weaknesses in First Fantasy a few seconds ago and I just rediscovered some really strange boss weaknesses and immunities that appears to have been present in the original. Not that they are that bad, but I just thought it was odd that I did some of those choices:Dungeon boss 5: Immune to regular attacks and weak against the ultimate spell. I know that boss is hard but considering he's a fire enemy I wonder why I chose a non-elemental spell as weakness against inst...
