I've been listening to some interesting podcasts (non-musical, but ...)
Hello Internet: A podcast with CGP Grey (videocator) and Brady Haran (videojournalist), who talk about... things. Its format is called "two guys talking." If you want to listen to it, you have about 25 episodes of backlog, I highly recommend you start from the top.
Accidental Tech Podcast: This one's mainly for Apple fans. John Siracusa, Casey Liss and Marco Arment talk about Apple products, and some other things about being a professional developer (mainly on Apple platforms though).
The Talk Show with Jon Gruber: Gruber talks to people. Mainly Apple-dev related, as well.
I found these interesting.
Also, DJ, you're listening to Celine Dion? I knew you were Québecois but I didn't know you didn't have taste ;D OK, joking a little but still, IMHO she's right up there in the "Canadian Music Hall of Shame" with Bieber and Nickelback.
How 'bout some AC/DC?

Agothro no lol I actually don't. The song I linked above is a remix. I don't think she's Hall of Shame material considering she has skills, unlike Bieber, but her stuff is played so often on the radio that it's annoying, plus it's not my style anyway. :P
Even when it comes to electronic dance music I don't listen to it as much as I used to a decade ago. Most electronic material I listen to is from the 80's or 90's, as well as happy hardcore, and nowadays happy hardcore is just pitched up versions of popular pop songs. Nowadays I'm more into power metal and some other styles of metal. ^.^ Sabaton, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Twilight Force, Iron Maiden, older Metallica material, Over Kill, to name a few. Also Punk rock :D

That too, as well as Black Sabbath. I am not as much into them as Iron Maiden and the like, though, since I really like faster stuff that can be moshed to. But I really hope they come to play over here next summer (there are rumors about it) because it will be crazy.
Don't you dare compare Dion with Bieber. From what I can see (at least on TV in Quebec), she's a lot nicer than at least half of the international celebrities. Unlike Bieber, is that guy even human? For music, well yeah Celine Dion have quite a few talent, whether like it or not.
Well you actually bring up a good point juju: Celine Dion is probably one of, if not the only music artist that never got arrested nor started controversies before (other than that infamous AC/DC cover of Shoot me all night long with Anastacia). Everytime we hear about most other celebrities, it involves a crime. Bieber, on the other hand... (there was even a joke between USA and Canada during the Olympics stating that whoever loses the Gold Medal in hockey keeps Bieber ;D)
Rebecca Black somewhat got better lately, though...

Ive been listening to this great 4hr edm mix for the last few days :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kxGOFKAXc8
@ Unknownloner I think this would be very nice with high bass or at some convention, except it's too electro house for my tastes (barely any melody besides the bass). I tend to be more into the eurodance/trancy stuff I guess.
@ Cumred That mix seems to have some cool tunes from what I could see at the beginning. I am generally not into the commercial style electro stuff nor dubstep, but the songs I heard sounded very nice for those genres.
By the way, back when I got into electronic music, this is what I usually listened to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wnThU2XINk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgk49KLc9fU (best part around 3:00 onwards :D)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga1RnDs-K5U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4HpF4fwFnU
I still listen to some of that old stuff every once in a while (it dates back in 2000-2002).
I wish that they still made commercial trance like that D:
This SM64 song is awesome :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVKj3u8JUm0
I didn't hear it much before because I only beat the game about twice and the 2nd time I didn't watch the entire ending. It also originally took me ages to beat the game at first because we originally wanted to do it with all 120 stats and we found it hard at first >.<
Speedcore :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-iysdFu_TQ
Not sure if NSFW, but if you know French the lyrics and the title sounds suspicious, especially that they use words that sound very close to NSFW ones O.O
The song sound cool, though.
EDIT: Actually the song has a double meaning so I was kinda right O.O
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_sucettes (NSFW too)
Just by the name, just by the name... Oh and have you ever listenend some Mylène Farmer. She got too in full NSFW there. Just look the long version of her "Libertine" song. Half crude lyrics, duel, sex. All the thing uncensored and aired on TV. It came at an era where censorship was not that present on french broadcasts. Now, even a nipple cannot past out the radars!
(Offtopic my two cents : they censor the nipple but not the Charlie Hebdo/Hyper Cacher shootings... They censor smokes or pipe tobbaco but they omit bleedings half-dismembered people... What a curious censorship policy)
Aah I didn't know Mylène Farmer did such song too. And yeah back then over here too there wasn't that much censorship on broadcasts, although it was more TV that wasn't affected. For example, most Rock et Belles Oreilles stuff would never have been allowed if it was created today. Same for Piment Fort jokes. Now RBO is still allowed because most sketches are cult classics, but they rarely air (although that might be because they are for sale on a DVD package now).
Quote from: Eiyeron on January 15, 2015, 10:48:14 AM
They censor smokes or pipe tobbaco
Maybe it's illegal to promote use of tobbaco in medias?
This is why nowadays you rarely see people smoking inside movies. Some countries have laws disallowing promotion or depiction of use of tobbaco so that people won't be tempted to start smoking.
Well back then tobacco products were everywhere, you'd even see characters in a show randomly plugging products (because well that's how it was done at the time), but then they realized tobacco was bad for your health, so they tried to ban tobacco ads and stuff. Nowadays, yeah you'll still see some but it's made clear those ads were made in the 60s because nostalgia.
I think they stopped advertising tobbaco here around the 70's or so, but in sports stadiums they only stopped in the 90's and on Formula 1 cars they stopped in the late 2000's.
Also, about that France Gall song, what is surprising the most honestly is how such song was allowed to be published in the 60's lol. Back then, this is how most pr0n looked like:
Ok, maybe I'M exagerating a bit (this would probably be more how it looked like in the 19th century), but still, back in the days, people mentalities were very uptight about such things.
Ooh look what I found :D http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14941046/
Albion (the guy who made Crystal Towers 2) actually plays live now apparently or at least showcases songs live. And here's a studio version of one of his more recent songs and it sounds really cool IMHO. The lyrics might sound a bit weird to some people but it's really getting there now. Maybe eventually he could start a power metal band. :D
EDIT Here's the video of the furry convention. The song isn't played live, but it looks like it's only a matter of time before he starts doing so I think. :P

Seriously tho, after all the surgeries he went through he did look ugly as c. His 2000's music is subpar compared to his 90's and older stuff (still pretty good but far below).
I wouldn't know, i've never been a fan :P
I love his music. Kinda got fed up with it tho after listening to it too much. :P
Do you mean MJ's surgeries and music? I personally didn't care much about the surgery stuff, although I liked his 80's stuff quite a lot (especially Smooth Criminal). I'm not a fan of Bruno Mars, though. He played live at FEQ2013 where I had a festival pass for every concert, yet I still didn't bother going to that particular concert.

ROFL, that Epic Sax Guy remix is awesome. But again I might be biased because of the Europeat/Jpop thing :P
Currently on the second hour of my trip down that endless road, searching for that unknowable answer:
That was awesome when I saw this the first time. To be honest, I am more used to A Night at the Roxbury since I grew up with that movie, but that version was amazing as well. XD
I think what helped, though, is that this is one of my favorite eurodance song. I also like some other songs by Haddaway. Rock my heart is my second favorite from that artist/band.
These are pretty great. (First starts slow but picks up)
Beatmania IIDX gets all the cool songs :P
I'm listening to Trolling Saruman x.x
@Unknown this 2nd song sounds epic. I liked that type of music when playing Stepmania. :D
Also thanks to juju but I just discovered Manau. I'm not much into rap but La Tribu de Dana is really awesome:

It's supposedly a cover of this song (which is nice as well)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPwETyPCwEs&list=FLGw3kT9IWXxiqXATVV4-fEQ&index=1
And Eluveitie obviously made a cover (I think it's one?) too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iijKLHCQw5o
My favorite gotta be the Eluveitie song then Manau's.
Yeah, I love this song as well. Manau is pretty good for a rap group. Actually, Nolwenn Leroy's version is a cover too, but she's more true to the original, which is a traditional breton song. I discovered her while doing my research to prove DJ true a few minutes ago xD Fun fact, it's not the only time both three artist covered the same song.

Although I wish it was closer to Sonata Arctica style. It would fit perfectly if it was like the song Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited. By the way, the latter is way underrated (probably due to the song being overshadowed by The Cage) and it's a song I listen to frequently:

Kuru Kuru Kururin - Star Land. I had to play pretty much the whole game for a test (if you want to read it, it's in french. Sorry) and the theme I liked the most was this one.
Hm I wonder if that game was translated to English? Also lol the music sounds like NES music despite being on GBA (except drums). Also where is your review?
The game is in English worldwide (yeah, even in Europe). It uses the NES channel as many games does (FFTA use them for instance to give more richness to the instruments).
And Here (https://retroactive.me/retro-actif/retro-spection-gbakuru-kuru-kururin/)'s my review. Warning, it's French.
Oh ok I wasn't sure if the GBA had such channels. I thought it was like the SNES but with lower quality wav sampling or sound.
The GBA still have a worse sound chip than the SNES, it's just that the GBA has more power and cart storage so more detailled/sampled music are doable while having a full fledged game
Yeah the power was a big plus. There were even games that looked similar to Playstation games such as 007 Nightfire, Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride and Duke Nukem Advance, which had 3D environments.
Btw the music in Crazy Taxi Catch a Ride is not bad for GBA:

So what should we call nightcore'd speedcore?
It depends. If nightcore only involves making songs play at the speed of UK hardcore so that they sound like it, then in such case, nightcored speedcore would actually result in the song getting pitched down instead of pitched up. If, on the other hand, nightcore always involves speeding up songs no matter their original tempo, then I guess it would still be speedcore. :P
On a side note, Toxic Shock Treatment by ZoDiaCMaSSaCrE is awesome if you like speedcore. It's a member from the now defunct TIMGUL site. I don't know if this song was made with MTV Music Generator like most songs there, though.

I need to check this out soon. I listened to the first song and it sounds quite fun to listen to. The bonus tracks are epic as well, especially the 8-bit renditions of SM64 and SMW themes. On the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest soundtrack (Mystic Quest Legend in Europe), there are three tracks that are arranged versions of in-game songs and I like them. If only they remade this game in HD or 3D and improved it, they could almost re-use some of those old tracks in it. The following tracks would fit perfectly for villages and some temples.
This is a video edit which removes the crappy rap-style junk that repeats MIXTIC QUEST non-stop so you can listen to every track snipped without interruption.

Off-topic: Fun fact: Over here some people thought this game was Final Fantasy 1 because of how basic it is compared to what we received as Final Fantasy II and III back then and the lack of a digit in the title. But in fact this game came out after Final Fantasy II. Also back then the game names were completely messed up in North America because FFIV and VI were renamed to FFII and III since we didn't get the original FFII, III and V. When FFVII came out for PS1 they decided to keep its name intact so North American fans finally realized they got screwed over.

I've been listening to a bunch of lesser known bands lately, namely The Seahorses (1997 ish?), Likely Lads (disbanded last year, all their music is free on Bandcamp!), The Blue Dawns (new band, same members as Likely Lads minus one guitar player).

YOLOing before the time, those hipsters.
And yeah, I absolutely loved their anime covers.
My favorite is the Goldorak Noam cover. The MXoG one is nice too although the trumpet is a little out of place during the chorus.
I like Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. Especially when it's played on the ukulele.
...And she's buying a stairway to heaven...

Wait did you play in those clips? I actually like the result :). Also I don't listen as much to AC/DC since it's not enough metal for my tastes but it's still very fun to listen to sometimes, especially at parties and I would like to go to an AC/DC concert at one point. And Led Zeppelin is just unreal.
Yup, I did play in those. We also did Stairway to Heaven but I don't have a recording at this time. I was a soloist for Dream On. :D
Aah ok. I like them. Too bad you have no recording of Stairway to Heaven. One of my favorite ballad.
Yeah, I think our school taped the whole concert, so I can cut out the stairway part when I get it.
Ok good luck getting an hold of that part. :)
And they taped it? O.O Do you just mean recorded or do they literally still use cassette recorders at your school?
Yeah, cassetes :P Not really.
I usually listen to 60s 80s and 70s music. Mostly because of influence from my dad.
Aah ok. To be honest, though, I noticed that when some people are young they tend to only really listen to the stuff their parents listen to and if they do not like it, then they don't get much interested into music. It's really when they get older and start listening to other radio stations or go on Youtube ourselves that they begin discovering even more stuff. But some people are lucky, as they'll actually like what their parents listen to a lot. In my case, it's mostly the 80's music that I liked and to a lesser extent some 90's dance stuff, but besides that I really discovered my favorite genres at school, with friends or on my own. I even remember trying to be careful to not buy metal with harsh vocals or explicit stuff, in case my parents would not like, but when they discovered what metal really was they were ok with my choices, although they didn't listen to that kind of music. :P
Yeah, that is true. I also like dubstep and I don't like the modern "pop" music.
I used to listen to Nostalgie with my grand-mom when I was at her home. It's a radio with old 60-80s songs. Yeah, these eras still have good music.
Im sometimes a week with my grandparents and they too have that kind of music playing on the radio most of the time. On time it even played rickroll O.O
Aah that's cool lol. Some will just listen to classical music, but I guess some tend to like what our parents liked as well, so that can help. I have yet to meet a senior person outside concert venues that listens to heavy metal, though.
My parents like classical but i don't though. Maybe it's the generation gap :P
In my case my mom didn't like that kind of music much. It was more Celine Dion, as well as 70-90's pop artists until a few years ago where she somehow got into mainstream pop and dance music (eg Rihanna). Most likely the generation gap, although I notice that in the TI community there are quite a lot of people who like classical music.
My dad listens classical a lot, eg Bach, Vivaldi and the like. I also like this kind of music but I don't listen to it that much because it's not exactly the type of music to put on in the background while you are working on something. I do know pieces like Bachs 'Matthaus Passion' by heart, though.
I've been practicing 'Do I Wanna Know' by the Arctic Monkeys with a housemate. I'm not into this style of music but the song's pretty easy and I guess playing any kind of music is awesome :)
Yeah my gripe about classical is how it's calm and quiet then suddenly there are two very loud notes. It's awesome for that but it makes it not ideal to relax or concentrate.

That's the soundtrack of a project I'm making for school. So of course I'm gonna listen to it a lot.
Sounds cool :D

Not a game, we have to make a 30 to 60-second ad with stock photos.

Oh wow I remember this school project now. I did it as well in 2004. I forgot where we picked our stock photos but IIRC mine was themed about outdoor activities with a strong focus on extreme sports. It was 320x240 and I used Darude - Sandstorm as track lol.
Sounds like a quite fun project though :3
Been slowly getting back into rock (the Rolling Stones, Green Day, ACDC, Royal Republic, Muse, RHCP, Superbus), besides that I still listen to the same metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Twilight Force) on a regular basis.
I'm still listening to EDM and such :P. Though i quite like rock too, i just don't listen to it as much.
What kind of EDM in general? Because there are many sub genres. I mostly listen to the mid 90's eurodance and happy hardcore when it comes to EDM. For rock it really depends of which style of rock. Stuff like Coldplay, Muse, Dream Theater won't appeal to me very much, but I like The Killers, Of monsters and men and the extreme genres. Even among the extreme genres it depends too. I don't like A Perfect Murder or System of a Down, for example. If melody sounds like this (https://youtube.com/watch?v=729QL2x5kMI) then there are big chances that I like it even if it's from Bieber (who will most likely never do songs using such melody). :P
O.O Don't you compare Muse to Coldplay now lol, it's not even remotely close in style. :P
These are awesome and they have even more.

I like Muse for their very powerful rock (which is what they're known for) and this last song even has a metalish part.
i quite like itatually :P

I know they are different. What I meant is that neither style appealed to me. The only Muse song I actually like is Knights of Cydonia (and even then I don't like the second half parts that have lyrics). I don't know why. It's hard to explain. They just both don't appeal to me.
Here's a good 4-bit cover of Hysteria : https://ucollective.org/audio/gotoandplay/hysteria+muse+cover/
EDIT : FORGET IT I JUST FOUND THE BEST HOTLINE MIAMI 2 SONG ON THE WEBS! https://soundcloud.com/carpenter_brut/roller-mobster This music is just the best one in the OST, have fun looping it all the day.
Wow epic cover of Hysteria ! :D
Wow those two songs sounds kinda nice. :D The second song reminds me of some electro from a few years ago, but with lots of trance in it.
Yeah, I think that's the idea. The game setting is around early 90s so if the style is remisnecent it's normal! :p
Aah ok I don't know much about the game but I heard about it a lot. I tend to not play PC games as much now.

Wishing there was a DJ Omnimaga remix...
EDIT: just trying to get it to happen xD
Lol sadly I tend to not have much inspiration when people send me remix requests. Remixes like this happen all of a sudden usually like when I remixed Ice Cap zone or the Final Fantasy theme. If I did a SSBM remix though it would probably be Mother's theme.

Lol Eiyo. Also yes DJ, the Maiden. And a bunch of other bands from back then.
Speaking of which, I listened to AC/DC's 2014 album and it rocks. :D
Oh I need to listen to that one actually. Do they have a style similar to back then?
I think Paradise City is pretty much the best song they could get for a game like this.

I am listening to it right now, damn yes it rocks. The style didn't really changed, sounds like their old material, which is pretty good.
Yeah definitely, they sound like the good ol' times. :D
Awesome to hear. I'Ll have to give this album a shot, then.
Been listening to more Guns N' Roses. Result : I ended up freeing 4GB on my phone for their entire discography in flac. :P
But you ditched Metallica and Iron Maiden? D:
But yeah GNR is awesome.
Also I found some strange song O.O that was made using data from Beijing (China) air quality data

Whoa I missed all this talk about rock? Shame on me. :P
AC/DC and Guns 'n roses are awesome, but I find metallica a bit to heavy for me.
Recently I have been listing to U2 a lot. I seem to find a new awesome song by them each week! Beautiful Day, the Miracle(of Joey Ramon), Pride(in the name of love)
REM and The Police have cought my intrest recently too.
Did you listen to the Black Album, Load and Reload? Load and Reload aren't as good as the first Metallica albums, but they are slower in overall. What about Iron Maiden? Some of the albums got slower songs.

Lol. I don't like all of them. Some of them are just ripped from CD's I got for birthdays or from songs from the radio I liked once.
I like a few of them a lot though.
From the song names, this seems like there are quite a few 90's dance classics in there, unless they are covers? Also I never heard of 500milesawayfromhome.mp3 but I know a song that is called Million Miles Away from Home by dune and I like it. You need to be into happy hardcore to like it, though.

IIRC it's from Germany like Blumchen (similar style) but it's from 19 years ago.
Among songs of similar style that I frequently listen to as well:

Well, this was the biggest part of my music database. I edited it and removed most of the songs from my little sister and my little brother, whom I allow to use my NAS server aswell to store their music. 500 miles away from home is a gospel song or something similar (this is only the instrumental version though).
My mom likes these 90's songs so much and I heard them quite often and like a few of them too. This is why I have a few of them :)
I will listen to the videos you posted and see how I like them.

In my case I think it's more the music genre derivatives they have that I like. For example, German happy hardcore seems better overall and more melodical than UK and there are some rock songs that I like such as this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrKlO1Tr2IE
And of course the many power metal bands.
I should get Gorillaz back on my phone, it's still fun to listen to.
Gorillaz O.O
i wish there was a Gorillaz movie (wit their music ofcourse), because i really like the clips but i always feel like it misses a backstory :/
There is a backstory. Go check the wiki page of the band and you'll see the story. Unfortunately, the last will stay as a storyboard because lack of money...
Thats unfortunate. But yeah i've noticed that some video's connect to eachother, but i couldn't find a clear story :/
Yeah, you probably want to read the Wikipedia article or checke the non-ùusic clips videos.

Yep, she sang in quite a few anime, like Kill la Kill, Attack on Titans and Blue Exorcist.
Nice :D
And also saving $3 a week shouldn't be that hard honestly if you use common sense :P
Yep, eating onigiris and McDonald's the entire weekend definitely does not help. Neither is my impulsive brother who bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. In French.
EDIT: I also went to the Videogame Orchestra yesterday, that was pretty nice.
Also Metallica closes the old Pepsi Coliseum in Québec and opens the new fancier Videotron Centre next to it. Which is pretty cool.
Yeah I saw and I was happy. I hope the tickets don't all sell out in 2 seconds like last time so I can grab some. I don't know which concert to go to, though, because they said the one at the new arena would feature newer stuff. While the new arena sound will be much better than the old one, I would hate if I paid $125 for a St-Anger, Load and Re-Load concert. >.<
I don't mind going to the Colisée, though, but it will probably sell out fast, especially that they won't play anywhere else that month. >.<

Thanks Pimath for the list. I like some of the songs by The Killers actually by the way :)
Also Juju that first song sounds really cool. It is getting a bit confusing with so many songs called Open your Eyes though O.O (I think I know about 5 different songs using that name that are not even related to each others)
Since I am bringing this up, I'll share them, though :P

And this song by Albion: https://albion.bandcamp.com/track/open-your-eyes
I found the original!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia2aoTYY9PI
Welp, it's too good to be a pony song. It's based on the season 3 finale where Twilight accidentally cast a spell that switched her friends' cutie marks (and destinies) with each other. And the struggle to fix it, which made her an alicorn princess.
Also lol at everyone making songs titled "Open your eyes".
Van Halen sounds good with Rick Astley lyrics. But again NGGYU vocals arguably sounds good with almost every song :P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx9ZFsUuoYI
Talking about Van Halen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OlAx4Dok38
Also I like that breakbeat song a lot. It's often labeled as hardcore but it sounds different because it came out (1992) way before happy hardcore as we know it became a thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWoZu9Bb2P0
I don't really like that version of Jump... His voice is to deep.
But yeah, Hot for teacher has been on the radio a lot lately. I like the way they blends the sound effects with the music.
If you like Pink Floyd, just play this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYiHoR8e6U8
I'm listening to "The Misty Mountains Cold"
I have the original poem memorized, both versions (the one at the start of the book [The Hobbit] and the one near the end)
/me realizes he's been singing/humming the song wrong for months
I've been listening to Going Quantum mixes :3. I notice most people here are just listening to loose song and i'm mostly listening to mixes. Saves the need for clicking on another song every 5 minutes if you're gaming :P
I'm pretty original, so when I game I listen to the in game music. Well except in minecraft. I hated the music in that game so I turned it off all the time :P
I have yet to meet someone who likes minecrafts in-game music.
Oh some people do. I don't understand them tho. :P
I like cat and dog, that's all.
I just make a sound resource pack made out of rock and dubstep.

If you like mixes but also like electronic music then I made some DJ mixes way back in the days called TIMGUL Rave Mix volume 1 through 5 (which all features songs made from 1998 to 2008). :P

I've never actually played silent hill but i love the music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LB7LZZGpkw
That's not music I would expect from a SIlent Hill game lol. It's nice actually, but after watching parts of the movies a few years ago, I was expecting your video music to be more like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUWi9ytJhDc
That's probably in the game somewhere too. But as i said, i've not played it
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised myself. That's unless, of course, this game is totally unrelated to the movie.
Also the first song in this mix is awesome (the others are not bad but not as good). But what strikes me is that the intro sounds exactly like something that came out of MTV Music Generator (Music 2000 in Europe) O.O

Wow, thats amazing O.O
When I was in 5th grade I was in a robotics class that use lego mindstorms and I want to get some but they are expensive last I checked O.O
I have 2. Well, 'i', i have one and my little brother has one :P. I have version 1 and my brother version 2. Though he broke the screen on mine <_<
Iron Maiden. Nuff said. :P
I see your new sig too :P
Regarding Iron Maiden, for some reasons I didn't get as much into the Final Frontier album since it's kinda different from other Maiden stuff (except maybe some songs like El Dorado and When the Wild Wind Blows), I prefered the 2006 album titled A Matter of Life and Death. Otherwise I am mostly into the 80's albums, as well as Fear of the Dark. With many Maiden albums, I will just let the disc play without skipping any song, something I don't do with many heavy metal bands.
Btw, Be Quick or Be Dead, which is the first song on Fear of the Dark album, sounds a bit like thrash metal O.O, and Fear of the Dark song is just epic with that ballad part at the beginning.
Totally agree here, except for the Final Frontier which I love. Part of that album is prog metal actually which explains the difference from their usual stuff. And yeah, they also have some songs which sound more like thrash or power metal, and even heavy rock'n'roll (see Weekend Warrior which sounds a lot like AC/DC). That's what I like about the Maiden. They never get boring because their stuff is so varied.
If they sound like ACDC, I gotta listen to them!
They only have one song that does. :P Still really awesome.
Soooooo symphonic metal anyone ? :P
Ughhhh. Sorry, I don't like the way they scream like monsters. :P
Sounds quite cool :D

Foo Fighters seems kinda good. However, I don't think I have ever seen a band member break his leg during a concert then still come back later to continue the show O.O

That guy have balls for doing this o.o
Ac/DC - Big Balls
That s whats needed.
Right now, I'm more into classical music with Ludovico Einaudi but I also like Eminem and Woodkid.
I like pretender from foo fighters, but not really much else from them. Awesome they finished the show though :D

You now make me want to listen to Pink Floyd :P
Yessss Pink Floyd FTW!
After going through this ancient electronic music genres guide (http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/), I discovered some rather obscure but cool songs, ranging from ambient to eurodance music I never heard before:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPHgYnMplvI
By the way, Miko Mission was an italo-disco artist back in the early 80's. He switched to Eurodance in the 90's, but around 2003 he started making italo-disco again and still releases some songs from time to time.
WARNING: The following song is NSFW (like most 80's and early 90's UK rave music, lyrics are related to illicit substances). But it sounds kinda cool and dark.

Yeah same, unless it's some jazz that rocks hard. I tend to be more into the hard rock styles as well as more extreme or obscure melodic electronic styles.

Well, they cancelled it in the end, due to the weather. We still got to see them play for a little while before, though, but rain was still kinda annoying.
Yeah that sucked that they had to stop this early. It was pouring so hard too >.<, plus the lightnings were getting kinda dangerous for people on stage. I hope they come back at Videotron Center
Awe, that sucks. Thy might come back again though because of that though....
Yeah there were talks about next year but they would need to find dates. Or they could try to play at Videotron Center this fall instead.

Help me I sunk into non-Bruce Maiden. D: Jk these two are really good tho, imo.
I'M not as much of a fan of the 1980 album and Virtual XI signer but they are not bad either. Futureal is pretty epic with Bruce signing it.
Probably one of the best Ys song ever (although a bit short):

mwuahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
You know, as much as it's just a Youtube video
@Unicorn and lacks a download link , I'm not too thrilled about the idea of linking to full copyrighted albums on the forums. So I replaced your video with just the song.
I lost, though :P
EDIT ALso that's a nice blend between eurobeat and 90's eurodance:

Does anyone remember this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meVsxRys5CQ
It was an absolutely epic electronic dance medley of many NES theme songs. :D
Whoa awesome. :D
My favorite part is near the end when that last Mother track comes up then builds up with all title screens showing up. ALso I loved the part with Final Fantasy II JP music
For those who like power metal, those old songs are quite cool IMHO:

Yeah those videos were from my favorites back in 2009 back when Youtube limited videos to 100 MB file size. Hence the terrible quality.
Also yeah Helloween is epic. I got this 1987-88 double-album btw. Another song I love from them is 2013 song Straight out of Hell :)

So I really wanted to give Saint Anger by Metallica a good listen, since I was criticizing a lot even though I only listened to it once or twice. So I did, and I must say that this album is a lot better than what people say about it. I mean, sure, it's not Metallica's usual style, there are no epic solos and the drums sound like empty oil barrels. But that's not really a bad thing. The lack of solos and the drums actually fit really well into the overall atmosphere of the album (which is pretty aggressive, lyrics included). I think the album is pretty good and I actually like it. To enjoy it you have to drop any expectations with regard to Metallica, you can even forget it's them playing. It's not the same thing at all, it doesn't fit into the early style, the Master/Justice style nor the 90s or the Death Magnetic style. It's something of its own and it's great.
Also continuing on power metal :

For no reason I'm listening to random US military marches and songs from Soviet Russia or Maoist China...
Lol interesting. There was some military song I liked once from some communist country, because the melody was catchy, but I didn't care much about the lyrics nor the song premise and would probably not have agreed with it anyway. It might have been from North Korea lol.
EDIT: Also nice songs Streetwalrus, although the guitar in the LOTR song sounds weird.
Ken Blast (or whatever his name is currently like every eurobeat producer) is best eurobeat.

Yeah, that's why I like the marches I do :)
China's main military march is pretty catchy, same with what I think is the main one for Soviets
I've been listening to Radiolab and Hello Internet a lot over the past few days.
THis sounds nice Juju. The second song actually sounds a bit like 90's eurodance too.

Wow that sounds pretty cool :o
Good ol' punk from the 70's :), but it sucks that most recordings seem to suck. I heard 70's music that had much better sound quality. I guess that maybe punk rock bands were mostly obscure and had lower budget for equipment.
New song from Odyssey! https://soundcloud.com/odyssey-eurobeat/discord-2015-extended

Undertale seems to be a pretty good Earthbound-like game, it's pretty popular these days, and it's made by the guy who made some music in Homestuck. (That song also appeared in Homestuck, by the way.)
@Juju the second video doesn't work beecause the author removed it.
As for the Discord remake, to be honest I prefer the previous one, although this version is still nice anyway. Not a big fan of the song in the first video, but I do like the 3rd video a lot. The 3rd reminds me of Ys music, especially Ys VI.
That's weird, it works fine for me. It must probably be blocked in your country-- wait, we're in the same country! Yeah, that's weird.
Maybe the server this video is on is just down?

Nice songs DJ, I love SNES music.
Did you notice something familiar in the 3rd song? :P
Oooh, Sonic music ? I didn't play enough Sonic to recognize. Especially not the early games (at all).
Yeah apparently that song never came out, but then it was re-used in Sonic 3 or something like that. Also I heard that Michael Jackson was involved in either the band or the Sonic 3 remix. I like the original a lot, though, as well as the Sonic 3 version.
A cool folk metal song from Arkona (Russia), illustrated by an old children film with Bilibin like settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBxLaYoUynY
And another song by the same band, with a nice sword dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4_PWKOCz0U
@garvalf, I wonder if Clockwork Orchestra (https://clockworkorchestra.bandcamp.com/) would be something to your liking?
@utz : I didn't know Clockwork Orchestra, it's indeed very good. It reminds me a bit of The Legendary Pink Dots, another band I like a lot.
For some reasons my post never came through, but I love that first metal song
@garvalf . I didn't know that Russia made metal, especially folk/pirate/symphonic/melodic/power metal genres, since those seemed mostly concentrated in Finland, Norway and Germany. I didn't listen to the 2nd one until now but it sounds nice as well.
There is quite a "tradition" of black / folk metal in Eastern Europe and Russia. Probably Scandinavia came first, but then when it started to decline a bit, around 1995, the Slavic people arrived with some very cult albums :)
For example Sacrilegium "Wicher", in 1996:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SWajZWKiG8
Behemoth "Grom", again in 1996:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFgPpqgokM0
it seems 1996 was for black metal a good year, as much as 1986 was great for thrash metal...
In 2000, Graveland "Prawo Stali" :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip5p52Cv5Lc
Silent Hope by Idle Cure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN-jGRKc2Vg
Bad News for Modern Man by Steve Camp:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZFSOwuk53w
And Tourist Trap by Crumbacher:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwwTS8Q7Qos
They're all varying degrees of haunting or foreboding. The last two would have to be in my top 10 favorite songs ever, out of thousands I've heard.
I've been listening to long PsyTrance mixes on YouTube lately. I find it nice for prolonged programming sessions.

Oh, I heard that one, I even downloaded the whole thing just in case I ever needed it. It is indeed pretty good for prolonged anything :)
I didn't know Crumbacher but it sounds good!
Here is an interesting album I found:
https://4mat.bandcamp.com/album/closure-sans-titre-bonus-tracks
It's a blend between relaxing and electronic music, with a few faster songs, but some of the noises used in the song sounds like chiptune material.
@garvalf that first long song sounds nice, but what's with the sound quality? O.O Was Russia that far behind in recording technology in 1996? It reminds me how Japan still seems stuck with 480p TV, judging from the fact that most Japanese TV show videos on Youtube are not HD.
Also I love melodic black metal :)
Also
@Caleb Hansberry I think I remember hearing those songs before on Omni or something :) I like the 3rd one in particular. I didn't know that there was christian italo-disco music. :D
EDIT: Wow the chorus in this song reminds me a lot from some Japanese song I forgot the name of:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3tRT1_Sn4E
It also sounds like old VGM, anime or eurobeat stuff from Japan.
I'm pretty sure I posted the second song on omni, the other two I don't think I did but not sure.
Yes, Crumbacher is excellent, I highly recommend the rest of Escape from the Fallen Planet as well, such as Identical Twins and Crashlanded, and also the album before it, Incandescent (from which my favorite song is Track You Down).
Yep. By the way I just went through all their albums (unless I missed some?) and Escape from the Fallen Planet and Incandescent are my favorites. Tame the Volcano is not bad but I don't like Thunder Beach much. My favorite songs from them are Track you Down, It Don't Matter, So Strange, Graduating Class and Tourist Trap. The best IMHO is Graduating Class, but it might be due to its chorus melody reminding me of Japanese music culture (mainly . My second favorite would be Track you Down.
Also while we're into christian music, Armageddon is another band I like, but the genre is completely different: thrash metal:

Dammit, now you made me want to watch that anime. :P My list of things to watch is way too long. <_<
Also lol DJ, Japan is far ahead of everyone else in terms of video quality, don't judge by YouTube videos. :P
Japan's been pretty much one of the first countries to switch to HD since quite a few years ago, since it's pretty much been invented there?
Anyway, the Haruhi Suzumiya songs are pretty good, you should really watch it. The anime itself as well, also pretty good.
Then why do they still insist on using low quality Youtube videos? Is it because Youtube is paid in Japan or that bandwidth is extremely expensive there? Or are they just so conscious about space management?
I dunno why really.

I'm very much into the two first albums of Rings of Saturn lately. It's a technical death metal band, often regarded as one of the bands with the hardest songs to play on any instrument. Being kind of a fretboard psychopath myself, it's very much my thing :P

Thanks for pointing out the last song of the second album actually, I like it a lot.
I actually like death metal as well as black metal, but only the melodic stuff and preferably the stuff where the time signature and BPM don't change every 3 second like in Dream Theater. Amon Amarth, Aeternam and Dissection are examples of what I would listen to.
Also the following song sounds strangely familiar :P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CDTE_P93Mw
I cannot stand death metal. I like all the other forms of metal a ton, though.
Is it due to the vocals or more the music? In my case I don't mind growls, although I don't like being unable to understand what they are saying, but one criteria required for me to like a song is melody.
A little bit of both, I think.

Did you check out the instrumental at the end of Dingir ? It sounds a lot more like heavy metal, so there's a melody.
And same here, I don't like death metal because of the lack of melody. Thrash metal (eg Metallica) is the lowest I can go. :P
I'm gonna see a lot of different people and groups live soon.
Tomorrow, I'm gonna see Which Ones Pink (a pink floyd cover band) play at the Canyon Club. (edit: wow, they were really accurate. The only thing that was really super off was the line "You! Yes! You behind the bikesheds! Stand still, laddie!" at the beginning of Another Brick in the Wall part 2 'cause the lead singer didn't have a Scottish accent.)
On December 26th, I'm going to the Canyon Club again to see Smash Mouth.
Some time in March of next year, I'm gonna see David Gilmour play. (probably at The Forum)

Indeed, these sound great, I'd listen to that kind of music if it weren't for the screaming/growling. I really hate that. I also hate weird autotune effects. If the vocals don't sound human, it often means I won't like it.

Didn't know Petra? They have a lot of good stuff. They lasted 30 years and always changed their sound with the times; from southern rock in '72, to disco in '79, synthpop in '85, arena rock in '88, to hard rock in '03. I especially enjoy Beat The System for an electronic sound and Beyond Belief for a hard rock sound.
Found an old band "September" and enjoyed their song "Line Are Falling" (and maybe more than that I liked that album art, like seriously sci-fi 80s!):

And yeah should always listen to Petra. 1984 Beat the System is the only one with a cool electronic sound, but their works from 1986 to 1991 have a good rock sound: 1986 Back to the Street has some keyboards (Whole World is enjoyable), 1987 This Means War has a little left but not much, 1988 On Fire has a good arena rock sound (I especially enjoyed Mine Field and Counsel of the Holy), 1990 Beyond Belief of course is all amazing, and 1991 Unseen Power still has some 80s flair left to it - especially listen to the detailed drumming on that album! </endrant>

TIL Yelo Molo still exists. This ska group was pretty popular around 2000, I really liked them back then, then somehow went forgotten... but they're still somehow around. Kinda like Vilain Pingouin, I guess. They're making a big anime convention in Gatineau/Ottawa this weekend (although I heard they cancelled at the last minute after tonight's show), kinda wished I've been there but it's kinda too far for me... Progressive death metal is awesome. Other bands I dig are Periphery and Meshuggah (though the latter is a lot less progressive).
Edge of Sanity also has some pure death metal stuff, some songs are even almost doom metal or on the opposite very close to power metal. I like diversity.
i like linkin park or metallica, but also eminem or some hip hop songs

That song no longer plays enough IMHO. They should play it more often on radio. It's amazing. Or they could play the Yngwie Malsteem cover, which is nice too. Kansas is awesome.

To be honest, I don't really like their covers of old anime, but they're not that bad either. MCoG music sounds better with the old instruments or in electronic form. But the band was awesome.

That song is epic. There is a longer version but it sounds different. I wish someone had made a mashup of both so that we have a long version using the short style. The lyrics are weird in that song, though, but that's the case in most italo-disco music, especially due to the artists not speaking English as their native language. Hey Hey Guy by Ken Laslzo is one notable example of butchered English in song lyrics. :P

It's definitely their style, it has a lot more rock parts than usual though, usually they focus more on metal. It's 2 discs, 34 tracks and 2h10 long, so it needs variation, and I love their rock style so that's great. It's a concept album by the way.
As always: http://radio.omnimaga.org/

Yeah, there is no studio version availalbe and this is the best quality I could find on Youtube, since they only played it live.
Well, there are pro live videos where they use quality equipment to film and record the show. A phone isn't really ideal for that especially since concerts are usually pretty loud.
You'd want to record straight from the sound console if you want some quality. Which is not exactly possible if you're just random guy who paid their ticket.

Yeah normally I don't like that type of music but Goldman is quite nice to listen to from time to time. It usually depends of the song, too (some are just generic pop radio songs we heard in the late 80's or early 90's)

Eh, I never really noticed. In Aimee Blackshleger's case, I'm not even sure it's J-Pop but, well, she still do a lot of anime soundtracks. And IA, well, she's a Vocaloid so anyone can pretty much do what they want with her. Oh, and the GARNiDELiA one, I'm pretty sure some of you heard it before... :P

This is not really my type of death metal
I don't think Meshuggah would consider themselves death metal at any point; they came from thrash metal (in their earlier work you can see Metallica's influence) and call themselves progressive metal.
Ah ok. But there seemed to be growls in the music and the style seemed similar. But again, some folk metal bands consider themselves as power metal sometimes. Personally I don't mind growl vocals also, but I'm more into the melodic side of death and black. As for thrash metal it depends. It has to generate mosh pits for me to like it and has a minimum of melodies.
Now that you talk about thrash metal, here is one song I love from the 80's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USldA_fG_D8&nohtml5=False
(I actually got caught in a real mosh pit at an Overkill concert a few years ago because I stood next to it and people thought I was participating. It was kinda hardcore, although I usually prefer it when I decide to go in the mosh pit on my own)
Also, back into the power metal side of things, although perhaps more on the heavy metal side, has any of you ever listened to very early Stratovarius stuff? A lot of people know Strato by their 1997-03 and 2009-2011 material, but they have been around since the 80's and some of their old stuff is very good too, IMHO:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EA_art2qWI
Also, did you know that Sonata Arctica used to do punk rock? :P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avum9MPdOy8
Actually, not really, but you can clearly notice punk rock influence from this song. Btw this song is from 1996 and it was remade into Flag in the Ground in 2009 (which I don't like as much, but is still fun). I wish they remade that song into its original style, like they did with "I'm Haunted"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev3VwmpBXyo
Welp, that's the singer from Sonata Artica.
Wow, I knew he was also in a Finnish language band I forgot the name of and also did vocals for Avalon's band (which was started by Timo Tolkki IIRC), but I didn't know he also made video game and TV show covers.
Also, I am not listening to the following song (I think

@Cumred_Snektron for some reasons, when the album started I thought it was stuff from Imagine Dragons :P
haha, it doesn't really sound like it though
Yeah, at first glance the beginning of the first song did but then it slowly got different.
Bonkers volume 7 was a special album because in 1999 trance music became popular and happy hardcore had to compete against it. As a result, most happy hardcore artists adapted their styles to be closer to trance then happy hardcore died until 2002. Then in 2002 it revived as UK hardcore. Basically, this is when hardcore music departed from its typical cheesy sound towards a more euphoric sound, but since the transition was not complete in Bonkers 7, this gave an unique album (especially the Hixxy CD. The Dougal CD is the one that is the closest to UK hardcore from the new millenium).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As2atjoPF_M
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eWOIm8dx8Q
A similar trend has been observed since 2009, where UK hardcore is trying to compete with electro music from America, but the result is often not as good as with trancecore IMHO.
Bonkers 6 also had some quite "advanced" songs for its time too:

Hahaha yeah this sounds like Korea's 80s kids show music. They were super cheesy back then. Korean music, like the current kpop, started around mid 90s IIRC.
I see, but that seems kinda weird considering this anime isn't necessarily aimed towards just young kids. It seems like they were asked to create an opening for a cartoon with kids in it and never bothered to check the anime at all lol. Kinda like the French DBZ opening.

I loved the remix but didn't know it was one until two years later, and I liked the original even better. Those songs are great too. I love 80's rock like this.

There's also a Super Eurobeat remix of Let It Go, apparently o.o
Reminds me of one of the first One Piece opening themes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5elivsTUKg
I really liked that one. By far my best memory of One Piece. In general I actually liked the show, but I could not handle the immense amount of it nor how slow the plot progressed :/
Yeah, heard One Piece is pretty slow and long with a lot of fillers, but still good. Nice OP song, though.
Yeah a lot of TV shows are like that, with lots of cliffhangers. I guess they just want you to come back for next episode and see more TV commercials in the process. :P
On a side note I saw One Piece Unlimited World Red for the PS3 for $10 at Gamestop. I wonder if it's worth it? Reviews says it is and it seems to feature adventure elements, unlike other One Piece games which only have fighting, but I was curious.
Only the very best:

Yup, 80s rock is one of my favorite genres. :D
One of my favorite too.
I prefer heavy metal, though, but I guess I like most 80's rock that is melodical. :P

And I listened to that Assholevania cover a while ago. It was very nice. As for the game itself, keep in mind it's extremely hard, like, to the same level as Ghost N Goblins. You might want to start with the sequel instead.

@aeTIos that mashup sounds amazing actually. :D
Also
@Juju isn't Homestuck dead? I thought they ended over a month ago. O.O
Homestuck ended, but some extras are still pouring in. This is likely the last soundtrack album, though. An epilogue is (probably?) to be expected, along with the videogame they got 2.5M$ on Kickstarter for, back in 2012 or so.

Nice choice, Gintama contains very high levels of awesome. Not sure what I think about the way it bounces from super-funny comedy to super-serious fighting, but it kind of can pull off both at the same time... The second opening isn't bad either but I agree, first opening is pretty awesome.

Avantasia is pretty cool Strontium. :D I don't like them as much as some other metal bands but I have some of their older songs on a cassette somewhere that I recorded from radio years ago. Someone made this song in MTV Music Generator for the Playstation 1. It's not my favorite but it's kinda cool for happy hardcore-old school stuff:

To be continued...
That song is kinda weird at times but I like the style overall. It is more free form and experimental over all but it worked very well. Also it has some Pink Floyd influences.
Well, I posted it because it's being a meme (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/yes-roundabout-to-be-continued) recently (due to its usage in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure), but eh, the song's so good. I think it was popular in the 70s too.
Oh I didn't know it was a meme. And yeah I like the song. Hopefully people won't start hating it because of it being overused in a meme (like Darude Sandstorm, which was a killer hit back in the days)
Also, I hate when I can't find who made a song. While searching for NHL expansion history on Youtube I ran into this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dqqLUCvx8o
but I like the song at the beginning and wish I knew who made it. In the credits I noticed Megabyte and matched another song in the video, but could not find this one. The style reminds me of synth pop, italo disco and new wave, as well as some Crumbacher and Koto stuff. Maybe
@Caleb Hansberry might know?
Nah no idea. It could very well be something made for that particular project.

Aaaand I just picked up Haken. A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. band. I love prog rock/metal, and they're really great at it. Their style is much softer than Dream Theater, which is pretty nice.
Hm I'm unsure if I would like them personally, since one reason why I don't like Dream Theater is that they're much softer than most of my favorite metal bands (about 90% of Dream Theater songs from what I heard seemed to be ballads). Not that I dislike metal ballads, but I prefer having a few mixed with faster songs, Sonata Arctica style.
On a side note, I wonder if I posted those Sonata Arctica songs on CW before? They were recorded back when the band was called Tricky Beans (or Tricky Means at some point) and the cover artworks in those videos is just fanart someone made in 2008, but those songs were from demo tapes recorded between 1996 and 1998:
A bit lost (lots of punk rock influence lol)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jDJbaz0W74
Blackout (my favorite, now called Flag in the Ground but it's way different)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avum9MPdOy8
Frog Feet

Appartment 54 (remade as Cinderblox in 2011)

Peacemaker (this version sounds closer to punk rock than power metal. They even say USA in the song :P)

Addict (now called Sing in Silence. I prefer the new version actually)

But yeah, most of Haken's stuff is more on the soft rock side than on the metal side.
Yeah i know they have fast stuff but overall it seemed like the vast majority was on the slow or soft side. Kinda like most Rhapsody of Fire albums released after 2004, but $10 cheaper.
As I'm typing this, I'm at work bored out of my mind so I have a playlist of songs from "Foonmix 1, Plus, & 2" playing on the work computer. I see you're a lot into Japanese stuff too. I tend to mostly listen to eurobeat when it comes to Japanese stuff but I also liked SSH a lot, as well as Falcom Sound Team JDK. :)
Also some of my songs have Japanese or Eurobeat influences (La Porte du Soleil, Eurobeatizer, Massaji, that one unfinished cover of Roni Griffith - Desire, Super Ultimate Mega Doom and Return from the Forbidden Land)

I like heavy metal but that seems so unfitting for a Final Fantasy game. On the other hand, in terms of Final Fantasy OST rather than music in general, the bad choice of music makes it sound awesome in a funny way (especially when you're about to ride a fluffy chocobo and are totally not seeing this song coming) :P
Welp. I had to check whether the uploader was SilvaGunner. Nice one, though.
Ok so now I know why they used heavy metal this time: I checked for older themes and look at how they're called:
Final Fantasy II: Chocobo Theme
Final Fantasy III: Chocobo Theme
Final Fantasy IV: Samba de Chocobo (black Chocobo theme) and "Chocobo, Chocobo"
Final Fantasy V: Mambo de Chocobo
Final Fantasy VI: Techno de Chocobo
Final Fantasy VII: Electric de Chocobo
Final Fantasy VIII: Mods de Chocobo (Beatles style)
Final Fantasy IX: Ukuele de Chocobo
Final Fantasy X: Brass de Chocobo
Final Fantasy XI: Dash de Chocobo
Final Fantasy XII: Chocobo
Final Fantasy XIII: Pulse de Chocobo & Cocoon de Chocobo
Final Fantasy XIII-2: Crazy Chocobo (heavy metal) & Rodeo de Chocobo
Final Fantasy XIII-3: Bluesy Chocobo & Marimba de Chocobo (
@pimathbrainiac might like that one)
Final Fantasy XIV: Eorzea de Chocobo
From Final Fantasy 4 to 10, chocobo themes matches one different music genre each (although in FFIV only the black chocobo theme does). They stopped doing that in Final Fantasy 11 online, but it seems that in Final Fantasy XIII-2 they started again. Basically they went with samba, mambo, disco, electronic, rock 'n' roll, ukuele, brass, heavy metal, blues and marimba over time, with the rest of the themes using standard Final Fantasy style.
Ah, yeah, that explains everything. I did noticed the soundtracks had a lot of Chocobo Theme remixes in different styles. That's pretty cool.
Yeah I didn't know that at first. Back then I was wondering why most Chocobo themes had music that didn't fit the style of the rest of the games at all, though. Of course there are exceptions, like the first games, due to NES limitations (although I bet they could have made a beach Chocobo theme in FFII or III if they went with Startropics style), and some later themes don't refer to any genre, but it's definitively a cool thing they did.
I wonder if at one point they'll do a dubstep or rap theme, though O.O. They could remix the metal Chocobo theme from FFXIII-2 and make it a rap song instead for Final Fantasy 15. It would be fitting if the game had an urban setting.

@Unicorn the first video doesn't work for me. As for other Blue Oyster Songs, for some reasons I only seem to like their stuff that sounds more heavy metal or hard rock, like that one song you shared over a year ago.
@Caleb I remember that. For some reasons it didn't appeal to me much, though. Some sounded like remixes of Crazybus theme <_<, but it's fun to see artists experiment, in this case, with 8 bits chiptunes, and I'm curious about what they'll come up with in the future.
By the way, did you guys know that new italo-disco music is still being made? Most new songs are of the slower type of it, though, rather than Hi-NRG/pre-eurobeat material, but I like what some artists came up with. This song in particular is quite cool IMHO, plus if you skip past 1:40 it even features electric guitar :D

/me wonders if
@Streetwalrus and
@aeTIos listened to the new Sabaton album? My favorite songs are The Lost Battalion, which showed a while ago, and Rorke's Drift, although it sounds very similar to "Into the Fire" "We Burn". I also like the song The Last Stand a lot, especially the final chorus. I would say, overall, that this album feels slower, but maybe they were going for a different style since they're doing more and more songs that are not about World War II.
In comparison to Rorke's Drift here is We Burn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8ZdrbEwqkk
And Into the Fire

I'm willing to bet that when the band will headline concert lineups that Rorke's Drift will replace Into the Fire.

It's actually a remix, from what I hear the second video you posted just plain sample the first, slowed down. Could be wrong, though, but it's definitely the same song.
Well, a remix would technically include audio samples from the original, unless the original wasn't Nena but rather an even older artist song. I think it's a song inspired from the German version of Nena's song, but using its own translation.
I'm listening to my own songs, because I think they're catchy myself (and I wanna make sure I still know the lyrics if people ask to hear it).

This sounds like it would fit very well as a Italobrothers or DJ Alligator style remix or something like The Last Hurrah of Omnidance (which is inspired by Italobrothers). Nice, by the way.

Lol juju at the 2nd song. It doesn't sound bad actually but of course I prefer the original.
Also I'm going back through some old trance right now (all from 1999):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVVmd2JqILs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLpgTdiWRH4
Yeah the 2nd song, it's pretty much what if it was sung in a major key instead of a minor one, which usually have the effect of making a song sound happy instead of sad.
Oh, also, the first two songs of Cellar Darling are out, which is, I remind you, formed of former members of Eluveitie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DRkXJCRM64
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOaR7k506s8
Nice Juju, although the first song seems to have a bit too many influences from commercial rock from the West overall. I like the 2nd more, though.
Also, talking about Eluveitie, here is a song I found that has a similar, but non-metal style:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxM9WDveabs
It has that celtic/medieval style

Yet another variant of rule 34, if it exists, there's eurobeat of it?
Anyway, randomly found this in the news websites... Nunavut, despite being in the Canadian Artic, way up in the north, has quite a few talented Inuktitut-speaking artists, except there's next to no support for them... Even when they fly in the south, producers and music companies often don't want of them. So they founded one directly in Nunavut instead. So The Jerry Cans are launching their 3rd album, which is record-breaking for an artist in Nunavut, apparently.

Heart - Alone is a power ballad from the 80's. Usually not the type of music I would listen to, but I always liked that particular song because of how melodic it is but also how it starts very calm, but then suddenly during the chorus it goes full rock mode.

OMG the phone/lighters in the air in the crowd makes it even more epic at the start. Reminds me of when I went to Metallica in 2015. Anyway nice song.
Also here is some Eurodance that a Youtuber posted:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMvQ1jL4Fgg

You can clearly see/hear that the person likes Eurobeat too because some of his/her selection seems inspired from that genre or is actually eurobeat inspired from eurodance.
Also lol a song about Tamagotchis. I had totally forgot that this existed (havent heard it in a decade)

Nice 8-bit music. Also that guy won an ADISQ prize for the non-chiptuned version of this album, which is pretty much Québec's equivalent of the Grammys, something like that.
That was some weird 8-bit music there. But I bet it would fit well in an actual 8-16-bits platformer themed after Mario.

Definately among the top tracks of phsycodelic rock (borderline hard rock & heavy metal)
Kickass riff and Dio's godlike singing.
In 2012, most Sabaton members left the band (IIRC, due to too much touring) and formed Civil War, their own band. I kinda like it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yhBhMJXBWE
Also c4ooo that track sounds cool. Definitively has some rock n roll and hard rock influence from the late 70's and early 80's
Also I like that song Unicorn. One of my favorite Green Day song :)
Hmm interesting DJ. The synthesizers remind me of sabaton's first album (Fist for fight / Metalizer). The singing is kinda meh, lacks charisma.

For some reason, it is thought of as a christmas song despite not having anything to do with christmas in the lyrics.
EDIT (by DJ): Fixed broken link
Sometimes some songs at work sound like Christmas music but they aren't really. I guess it depends of the genre. I also made songs that sound like christmas music, such as Magic Hardcore and Enter the Dream World.
Also the following song is amazing. It would fit perfectly into some sort of puzzle platformer like Mario for an overworld level.

@WholeWheatBagels about those dance songs, I would say the first one is more freestyle, a sub-genre of eurodance, which dates all the way back in the 80's. The 2nd one sounds more like italo-disco and the 3rd one house, but all of them have eurodance traits. I like the first in particular. Also lol at Hong Kong 97

Contrary to popular belief, the John Cena intro is not that loud at a WWE event :P
Currently I'm listening to my playlist that is home to some original compositions, TheFatRat, Alan Walker, Tobu, people like that. Although I am a drummer (/percussionist, I'm extremely good at mallets and tuning) I do not like songs with those 'grindy' parts, or an overpowering bass.
Edit:
Overlaid (I got a DJ style mixing board) a Hello Internet podcast
@_iPhoenix_ we actually got another forum member who is fan of mallets (
@pimathbrainiac ). He did a bunch of songs on his Soundcloud. You should check them out (not all of them use mallets but some do and they're my favorites)
Also

@_iPhoenix_ That Trita Trance 2017 remix actually ended up different than originally intended due to a short bout of depression (it was supposed to be harder and closer in style to In UK Hardcore we Trust or Ancient Kingdom of Happy hardcore). Glad you like it, tho ^.^

As someone who's big into the Twitch House/off kilter Electro House subsets of current EDM, an album by a supergroup featuring some of the biggest producers working in that style- incl. OMG THIS SONG. It's awesome but
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34FMHR5aoG4
It talks about faxes (that old thing we used to transmit papers and stuff and that Back to the Future II predicted to be widespread by 2015). However, the catch is the lyrics (WARNING: NSFW) http://www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/tokia/fax_me-lyrics-580921.html
The reason why I put NSFW in there is because if you replace all "fax" with "c", it rule 34's the song instantly O.O

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CQpNMx3RwM
I didn't know people still made 2000's style eurodance after 2007. I thought every single commercially available genre got replaced with electro and later nightcore (yes, it's commercial, because the majority of UK hardcore released commercially after 2009 or so is essentially nightcore) afterwards.
There was a massive pirate event in Quebec City in response to the Rendez-Vous 2017 (lots of old large and small sailing ships including a Pirates of the Carribean one) event where about 2000 people came in pirate clothings and I thought this song is kinda fitting

Speaking of which, Sonic 3's credits theme was also confirmed as being used as the basis for MJ's Stranger in Moscow.[/spoiler]

Godspeed You! Black Emperor has rapidly become my favourite band of all time over these last few months. They are a Canadian post rock collective formed in 1994. This is their only EP, "Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada", released in 1999. They've always been a very political band, although their music features no lyrics. Much of what can be interpreted from their music comes from field recordings and voice samples from other media.
The packaging of Slow Riot is very interesting. The band is not referenced anywhere other than the liner notes. The cover features Hebrew text meaning "formless and empty", and the back contains Italian instructions on how to make a Molotov ctail.
Inside the cover, Jer 4:23–27 is written in Hebrew and English.
Slow Riot has two tracks, Moya and Blaise Baily Finnegan III (BBF3). Moya is an instrumental which works mostly to set the "musical context", I guess, for BBF3. It starts with a deep drone, slowly adding more instruments on top of it, and then drops intensity. It rebuilds, and loses it again. The final quarter has it build into somewhat of a march, a call to action, before losing it's power once again as the album transitions into BBF3. Without Moya, BBF3 would lose a lot of its impact.
BBF3 features an interview with a man called Blaise Bailey Finnegan. The interviews have slow and quiet music played over them, weaved in with moments that builds into powerful crescendos with intense violins, and drop as Blaise Bailey begins to speak again. The ramblings of this character mostly have to do with his opinions of America and his problems with the police, government, and judicial system.
"America is a third world country, and people don't recognise it... and I think that that's pretty god damn sad, that they don't recognise their own country as a third world, third rate, third class slum"
The end of the interview features Blaise Bailey reciting a poem which he says he wrote, but is mostly lyrics from the Iron Maiden song "Virus".
After this, another violin crescendo rises, far greater than anything else presented in the album, and to me represents a great deal of agitation, especially given where in the track it is placed. The violin soon drops, and a heavy drum rhythm is played along with a heavily distorted guitar, before introducing the violin again, continuing to build intensity more and more and feeling more and more angry.
The sound once again drops to being slow and hopeless, as BBF3 began.
I obviously can't do this justice writing. The album is far too great to put into words, nor would I have the skill to do so anyways (I'm not a reviewer). But, the only reason I've bothered writing this much is because I want everyone else to listen to it and the rest of GY!BEs discography because they are absolutely amazing.
