I think yours looks better, though, despite not being as close to the original Reuben. Maybe you should move the green cape a bit behind, though, and make it the same green as the Reuben sprite.

Yeah. The sprite was inspired from Link in Zelda, as well as the default characters in Final Fantasy III for the NES.

However, I notice your is called Reurii, while mine was Reubii, so I guess they could be different walruses, but related to each others. (like the Walriichu family)

Who knows? Maybe at one point there could be a Reuben Quest spinoff where both him and his cousin were transformed into walruses, as well as everyone else on the island. But that would require making new map tiles.
