Google translate? No need, I'd need a better touchscreen keyboard.

Good thing you don't use an iPod Touch 4. On that thing, the touchscreen is so horrible that when you try to click a link, you need to zoom in  until the height of the text take about half of the screen, else it will always click the link below or above or do nothing. >.<. It's that bad.

Also regarding post stats, I thought it would be interesting to show how it elvolved by week (starting from forum creation until today, not Sunday to Saturday):

Nov 12-Nov 18 330
Nov 19-Nov 25 330
Nov 26- Dec 2 496
Dec 3 - Dec 9 388
Dec 10-Dec 16 307
Dec 17-Dec 23 218 (although this includes today which is not done yet)

Regarding post stats by weekday here this is the average pattern so far, keeping in mind that this forum uses GMT timezone:

Sun: 37.1667
Mon: 46.5
Tue: 58.333
Wed: 56.5
Thu: 51.5
Fri: 55.5
Sat: 41

Had we used GMT-5 (Montreal/New York) timezone, Saturday would probably average under 10 and some early week days above 60 <_<

oh that's pretty cool. Based on those stats, we can see when the forum is most active and when we should probably post news and such. I will be posting project news and such here, in addition to Project Periodical.
Well, I'm bach here too!

Dream of Omnimaga

Well to be honest it would kinda make some sense that whoever is staff here cross-post or post their own projects here since they're staff. :P

Regarding activity I guess it's not bad for a brand new forum, considering most new forums don't even get what we got in 1 week in 2 years. On the other hand, I can't wait until public opening because with finals it was very hard to keep the board as active with just 17 members having access. >.<

Not just for one night I hope? :P That said on a serious note I am curious about how many of the members awaiting approval will use the forums in long terms after it opens. One issue is that some people might be expecting 100% calculator discussion, but in fact we ended up being some core group of friends hanging out on a new site with a certain level of programming experience, so it was inevitably gonna result into a lot of off-topic discussion. That said, most off-topic discussion still revolves around our main themes, so I guess that's good.

Concerning your last post DJ, I'm thinking the forum will, maybe, suffer from a "private joke"/" alienation" problem the first days, because we've been hanging out here for more than a month. Look at the Telegraph thing, I don't have a clue what's that already and I'm one of the first non-staff member

I personally don't think they will. It's possible, however, that some users might be upset that we didn't let them in earlier and there will probably be some people who are less interested because the site took so long to become public that the hype decreased over the last few weeks, but among the 30 users awaiting for approval, most have joined in the last 6 days or so, so unless they are truly impatient or didn't read the Coming soon text at the top of the page, I don't think they have a problem with waiting an extra week before being able to access the site. As for people feeling excluded because we have been around longer, I don't think this will happen, because after all, if we are opening the site to public now, this means we are welcoming new members, right? <_<

As for Telegraph I assume you mean Telegram? This is a chat client and service like Skype, MSN, Yahoo messenger, AIM, ICQ, etc, except that it's supposedly more secure. Basically, instead of using a private #Codewalrus-Ops channel on IRC to discuss staff matters that has to be discussed in real time, we use a private group on Telegram.

Lol yeah, Telegram is also better because it's almost real time if you have a phone (if you know whatsapp then it's very similar, if not, think of it as sms/mms but much faster, group support and very good security).

Dream of Omnimaga

I prefer Telegram to Whatsapp, though, because it doesn't permanently lock you out if you miss the activation screen (glitch).

That said, we really need to find a way to move some of our Telegram activity to the IRC channel, because only me, Hooloovoo, juju and Unknownloner ever use it. Maybe someone could code a bot that syncs the Telegram chat with IRC and have a staff CW Telegram channel?

I like telegram because it allows you to share files and it is more optimized for mobile use. I will use irc more often when the site opens to chat with new codewalrus community members.
If you like my work, why not give me an internet?

Dream of Omnimaga

Except that #CodeWalrus IRC channel has been publicly available for almost a month now. :P Even Geekboy and Chronomex (xmc) idle in there.

I should try to make a better android irc client. Every single one on the play store sucks.

Dream of Omnimaga

That would be nice. I don't mind IRCCloud but it disconnects after 2 hours of inactivity and sometimes, on Android, clickling "Reconnect" will do nothing, so you have to mash the reconnect dialog non-stop until it finally registers a keypress.
