They all said that

But in most recent cases people went with a different, this time color calc model so they still did calc stuff :P

Most likely? What all these laws or actions to block smartphones and now watches? That would be unlikely. See, we're in a era where even an stupid watch can have a frigging CPU which can eat billions of operations per second and we have to stay with simple calculators because they are only made to calculate. They don't care anymore about specs or UI because their main goal is not to give the best gaming device nor the perfect 60 FPS smooshness when one searches a function hidden in the catalog but they have a decent system which worked through ages and changes just some things for attract some customers. Remove the QVGA color screen of the CSE or the Prizm and you'll have pretty much the same calculator than before, remove the more powerful processor for the legacy one and your calc will stay the same, they probably won't add the same functions than a smartphone. The evolutions are, IMO, just way to slightly make up with with the era but mostly to improve the production cost (maybe making old z80 isn't beneficial, the color screen could be the only thing they added as a market thing).
  • Calculators owned: A lot.

Yeah TI and others always try to keep their profits margins as high as possible. And with competition from tablets, they already started reducing calculator prices in France. See the 83PCE. But as prices go down this means they will upgrade calc specs even less.
