I thought I would start a music concert topic since Summer is approaching and there are lots of festivals. Have you ever been to a music concert before or do you plan to go to any in the near future? And I really mean actual commercial bands/artists (eg Nightwish, Metallica, Lady Gaga, etc) or popular tribute bands, not school band concerts.
In my case, I'm going to see Metallica on Sept 14th in Quebec City. I was lucky to get a ticket because it sold out in under 15 minutes. I bought my ticket 5 minutes after sale began and when I tried again after my purchase out of curiosity there was one more at an upper level, then everything was gone. The Sept 16th concert in the newer venue was sold out less than a minute after sale began. I can't wait :D
Also in the past four years I saw many other bands too. Among the big ones I saw Iron Maiden, Irish Moutarde (three times), Dropkick Murphys, Guns N Roses (the one with Axl), Bon Jovi, Rogers Waters, Over Kill, Sabaton (twice), Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Bad Religion, Amon Amarth, Eluveitie (twice), Dance Laury Dance (5 times), Vilain Pingouin (twice) and Alcoholica. I saw others too but those are the ones I remember the most. Given the many metal concerts I went to, I also had my share of mosh pits and I witnessed at least three walls of death so far. :P
I once went to an orchestra... That doesn't really count though.
I am going to New York for the summer so I may go see a band there.
I've been to multiple Roger Waters concerts since I was ~5, mostly when he performed The Wall. Other than that, I haven't really been to much other concerts, other than a Peter Gabriel one.
I went to a lot of concerts with DJ (so I won't state them all again, but it's most of them). Last weekend I also saw Mika Kobayashi (the one who sings on some anime openings such as Kill la Kill and Attack on Titan) and the Montreal Videogame Orchestra as part of Nadeshicon, an anime convention in Québec.
Ooh nice Strontium that you got to see The Wall too. In my case it was an outdoor concert and I think it lasted about 3 hours including the intermission. It was one of the best experience I witnessed.
I also forgot to mention I might go see Ensiferum with Korpiklaani in May, but I'm still not 100% sure yet. I also plan to go see Kamelot with Dragonforce on November 22nd.
I have never been to a concert. A lot of my friends have though, but i don't think i will go in the near future. This might change in a few years though :P
btw: i hear Rammstein concerts are awesome O.O
Damn yes they are. Rammstein abuses SFX it's crazy.
Pyrotechnics too. I wish I could go to one. I heard there were some pyrotechnic incidents on the stage, though O.O
Yes Motley Crue comes to Quebec City on October 20th. I might scrap my plans for Dragonforce and go see Motley instead, especially that it's their last tour ever.
Oo Motley?! Goto that :P.
An yeah, I went to a barenaked ladies concert this summer! (it hhad great commentary and banter about seagulls.) :P
I've never bean to a concert by a big band, but I've bean to several performances of my guitar teacher, who has a band up in Duluth, Minnesota. (Technically Superior, Wisconsin, but the two towns are very close and have always shared a culture so whatever :P ) and really I have no desire. IMHO "the music died" (yes that's a reference) in the 90s. To bad I was not alive back then :(
Totally agreeing with that. All th gooduic was in the 60s-80s. When we werwn't alive :'(
Yeah, I learned about Jazz history in Jazz camp this summer, so now I listen to Miles Davis.
I only listened to random WW2 music before :P
I actually have never went to a concert and don't listen to music somehow O.O

Haha nice, those can be fun too, but in North America they just play crappy music x.x.
As for music I like recent stuff too but it depends which genre. I like metal regardless of the year but I dislike most electronic music made after 2002.
I listen mostly to electronic music made after 2002 :P. Its very depend of what you search for. EDM has a lot of sub genre's (like dubstep and such) but some are better than others.
Yeah my issue is that most stuff sounds like electro nowadays, even trance and the variety is not wide.
Saturday, I went to Vilain Pingouin again and it was awesome, as always.
Tomorrow, I'm going to see Metallica :D . They're the final event to be held in this building:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6a/Colisée_Pepsi_de_Québec.jpg
Then once they packed up and moved to the venue next door (they play there on Wednesday, but I couldn't get tickets), the Colisée Pepsi will be locked down, much like the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium in 1996 D:
On the other hand, the new venue is MUCH better, especially sound. But they're planning to play a newer setlist, rather than mostly older songs. I like Death Magnetic and Reload, but not St-Anger, Load and Lulu.
This deserves a double-post (this vid is not by me, by the way):

I was on the floor, on the left in the middle. During the first 2 minutes of that song I was in the mosh pit.
EDIT Moar videos from other people:

Awesome ! :D The quality of these videos is very questionable though but I guess it's hard to film in a crowd, and phones suck at it. <_<
Yeah plus it was incredibly loud so even the ones with better sound (eg Master of Puppets) have clipping and stuff. Note, however, that Colisée Pepsi venue always had terrible acoustic, so any note played there bounces back against every wall and causes a lot of echo/reverb. While quality was way better live, the echo/reverb you hear in the Master of Puppets video was actually there when I attended the show. Also, in the stands, there are places where the sound is worse (eg the upper bowl on under the upper bowl where view is obstructed). Good times, though, and lots of nostalgia since they played there in 1989, 1991, 1997, 2004 (twice), 2009 (twice) and now 2015. This is one of the reasons why they replaced this arena, plus the fact it was no longer meeting today's standards with large stages and stuff (some bands couldn't play there anymore because the stage wouldn't fit through.
Metallica in Quebec City July 14th \m/ and Maiden on July 16th. I'm going to Sabaton on April 26th and Maiden, although for Metallica it will depend if I can afford the festival pass this year (and if I'm willing to attend the concert inside the venue rather than just hearing the music outside, because you can't see c on Abraham plains and when it's windy the sound is terrible). It would still be fun, though, if I can afford the pass during presale :3=

ie. techno and hardcore are the best

To be honest, I am not too much a fan of electro or slow trance at music concerts. I like melodic dubstep and would most likely slam to it, but otherwise I would rather prefer an extreme genre such as happy hardcore or UK hardcore. Sadly, the hardcore scene is non-existent in Quebec City area. I wish that the FEQ organized an event at l'Anti during their yearly electronic night where they would have DJs from the UK rave scene. The venue is very small (holds 200 people IIRC) but it would be a nice place to introduce people to different electronic genres including happy hardcore. Or just make them play as first act before mainstream electronic artists like Bassnectar or Skrillex at the bigger venues.
Surgeon is a mindbender mate look at his box of wires... I think it is mixed modular FX + Eq.... does anyone know??

That's a lot of wires.
Behind my gaming consoles and TVs in the living room at my appartment, this is exactly what it looks like.
My gf has the great habit of winning all the time, we've now been to the same concert two years in a row, each time she won 2 tickets
sadly she didn't win the car.... (https://codewalr.us/walrusirc/smileys/meh.gif)
Peter Gabriel, Don Henley, Roger Waters (many times), David Gilmour, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Smash Mouth, Roger Hodgson, Marillion, Iggy Pop, ELO, The Proclaimers, Ry Cooder, Robert Plant and Johnny Marr are all people I've seen live, and likely a few I've forgotten.
We have tickets to see Art Garfunkel, Arlo Guthrie, Eric Clapton, and Robby Krieger soon. We are also planning on going to Metallica and King Crimson sometime.
Wow that's an amazing selection Strontium! I tend to focus more on the extreme music genre bands (eg Metallica) but I saw Roger Waters once and the experience was amazing, especially the visuals. Juju brought back home one of the cardboard bricks that got used for the massive wall. Some bricks had graffiti/street art on them on each side of the stage.
My next concerts are gonna be Sabaton and Iron Maiden. Probably gonna wander near the Metallica concert venue but I doubt I'll have money to buy a ticket to get in (I'm ok with it. I don't like massive outdoor venues as much because the sound sucks). ALso I might attend the free concert with 100 bands/artists in two weeks (Dance Laury Dance is gonna be part of it)
Kinda on a whim, Xavier Caféine, with Vincent Peake of Groovy Aardvark on the bass and Away of Voivod on the drums, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his most popular album Gisèle. They did the whole album and that was pretty cool.
And at the end, before I leave, Xavier just hugged me like it's no big deal. Nice.
Nice :O, was this last night?
Yep, last night at Le Cercle. The guy even went in the mosh pit while singing, that was crazy xD
Lol nice. XD
Going to Sabaton with
@Juju on April 26th. All tickets bought since November. The show is almost sold out. Gonna be crazy.
Also I think a certain green :walrii: husky might come but of course it depends if there are tickets left
is this ur way of telling him the drug dealer will be there...? Or just a reference I don't understand? xD
Have fun!
Lol i am not talking about the 420 :walrii: :P (EDIT: I don't think he will come, after all. Oh well, gonna be an insane show tomorrow regardless)
Tonight the Winged Hussars arrive
Edit by p2: I hate this "Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk" >.<
make sure to provide a few photos! ^.^
I don't have any sadly, but I'm sure some will be posted by many people elsewhere , as well as vids.
Anyway that was the craziest show I've been to because the first band was similar to Sabaton style and the second was also war-related. All hell broke loose during the first Sabaton song tho XD
It was amazing. Only issue is that since it was a crazy sold out crowd, it was like a sauna in there and while I didn't care psychologically, my body didn't like it so I nearly passed out. I went at the back to drink water where the venue wasn't as hot though so I was good after only 2 minutes or so. I've never been to a concert with such heat O.O
Those aren't my vid, but they're from the concert in Quebec (including one from Battle Beast and Leaves Eyes)

that is awesome. I saw Maiden in 2012 and was supposed to go in 2017 but had to sell my 2017 ticket due to money issues x.x. I went to Metallica outdoors instead, but sat down behind the stage installations to not have to pay the festival pass.
